3. Has Arnold taken even ONE policy stance?
Edited on Sat Aug-23-03 11:09 AM by tjdee
The White House is leaning on the Republicans to drop out in favor of a mediocre actor (the GOP can't get the actually TALENTED actors) who STILL has not given out ONE way he plans to "fix" what "Davis" screwed up. What's worse, these Republicans are DOING IT, Issa even cried his wittle eyes out, but he did it!

Says a lot, doesn't it.

If Arnold wins, it says a lot more.

40. Sock Puppet Paradise...
"The White House is leaning on the Republicans to drop out in favor of a mediocre actor (the GOP can't get the actually TALENTED actors)..."

The GOP don't want TALENT in a "leader", they want a sock puppet, just like W. himself... look how well that has worked for them. The ghoulish fiends like KKKarl Rove and Dick Cheney prefer to be pulling the strings in the background. Evil always prefers to work in the shadows.

This "front man" thing is all just part of the neo-GOP strategy. Get someone out front that "looks good" but is basically brainless, then line up all the real actors behind them to do the dirty work, and the "people" are none the wiser. There is nothing mysterious about this. It's the way most criminals behave.

11. McClintock
will be the one they'll flock around if they flock at all. He's still making the rounds of the talk shows. He's not the twit Simon is, but he's still much too conservative for most CA voters. He was elected Controller a couple of times and I guess people thought he was ok at that, but he didn't pick judges from that position or veto legislation.

Hopefully, more people will rethink voting for the Recall. That does seem to be happening.

36. I think they would like a more "moderate" candidate...like Ueberroth ?
But I am of the opinion that we should encourage all the conservatives to drop out and leave it to Arnold because when it comes down to voting for someone for gay rights and is pro-choice, they will not pull that lever. Add on top of that the "personal" news that is yet to come out on Arnold, and it would be best if Arnold was the only option and all the other "conservatives" would drop out...

Forbes denied Simon's move came in response to any pressure from the party.

"There was absolutely no pressure, no phone calls - this was a decision made by Bill Simon based on rational conclusions," Forbes said.

He said Simon would not be available for interviews.

16. If this is true look for McClintock to follow.
Rove wants the GOP united around Arnold. How stupid is this? The Simon/McClintock right-wingers will stay home before they vote for a foreign born star of r-rated movies who is married to a Kennedy. Rove has miscalculated badly here. Davis is gathering money and momentum.

No one should have ever underestimated Gray Davis. This recall effort is going down.

17. Except the wingnuts lined up behind Arnold yesterday
http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2003/08/23/MN152118.DTL

A powerful conservative group that pumped $200,000 into Republican Bill Simon's campaign for governor last year endorsed Arnold Schwarzenegger on Friday, saying the actor is the only Republican who can win the recall election to replace Democratic Gov. Gray Davis.

The decision by the Lincoln Club of Orange County to back Schwarzenegger in the Oct. 7 election is a stunning blow to the other prominent Republicans on the ballot -- Simon, state Sen. Tom McClintock, R-Thousand Oaks (Ventura County) and Orange County businessman Peter Ueberroth.

... The endorsement by the Orange County Lincoln Club -- a bastion of powerful support for conservative candidates like former Rep. Bob "B-1" Dornan -- represents a political gold ring for the moderate Schwarzenegger, whose positions on choice, guns, environmental and social issues appear to conflict with many of the long-held postions of many of the group's influential -- and monied -- members.

bear no relation to the average church-going God fearing middle class wingnuts who despise "foreigners." Of course Arnold has no ideas and needs an army of toadies to advise him, so attacking him on policy will be easy for the seasoned Davis. However, if the Dems grow the balls necessary to get his groping, womanizing, and full frontal nude shots out there, he'll be finished even quicker.

21. White House pulling the strings
It doesn't really matter that Arnold isn't a true conservative. His election opens the door for lots of Bush visits to the state between now and the 2004 election. And if Arnold makes matters worse, they can always say, "That's why you need a true conservative in California."

This is truly bizarre. I just caught the 1:30pm news update, and their anchor ran down all the day's top stories -- the California recall wasn't even mentioned. Not one bit. And they had "LIVE" plastered on the screen the whole time.

They obviously know about it, since it's on cnn.com and all, so this is just too weird.

30. Simon
Yes, Karl Rove probably bullie him out, but it probably won't mean more than a miniscule number of new votes for Swartzenegger (I don't concern myself with proper spelling of his name). Only real fundamentalist wackos support a clown like Simon, and they don't like Swartzenegger. They will either vote for McClintock, some other fringe candidate or still vote for Simon, who will still be on the ballot.

This is much like the Bush plan.

Say you are moderate and move as far right as possible once you are elected.

They had to promise not just Simon, but his far right backers, the world to make this happen.

Make no mistake, Arnold is a puppet of Bush.

and was being asked (repeatedly) whether he was in it until the end and Simon wouldn't say definitively 'yes'. He indicated something along the lines of 'if the white house called and pResident talked to him, then he'd think about getting out'.

Looks like he got that call. I imagine he talked to Rove or maybe Cheney though, not sirduncealot.

46. Check this out! (Email from Arsenold's supporters)
This was sent to me because I have the satirical site http://billsimon.org/ - apparently they didn't pay close attention to the content before mailing this to me :)

+++

First let me say how gracious and selfless Simon was in stepping aside for the greater good of the party and state. I respect Simon for doing so and he may have gained an opportunity next year against Boxer. I want to invite you into Arnold's camp. There's a lot of misinformation out there about Arnold's conservative credentials. I wanted to set the record straight- for a complete analysis on Arnold's politics (hint: he is No "liberal"), please visit: http://www.arnoldgovernor.net/insidescoop.htm . And please pass this link on to any and all other Simon supporters who are considering joining Team Arnold.

This election should be focused on who can we trust to get California out of the economic mess we are in. California has the 5th largest GDP in the world, yet we are one step from our state bonds bieng (sic) classified as junk bonds. What we need is a canidate (sic) who will bring both businesses and jobs back to California. Someone that can put us back on the track of prosperity. Arnold's strong business exerience (sic) and economic council is the answer. His emphasis is on the right issue: create the condition for economic growth and job creation.

Now, we need to train our attention on Cruz Bustamante and prevail on October 7th. We need to back a winner and Arnold offers our best chance against Bustamante. I am looking forward to your support of Arnold. Can BillSimon.org (I don't know if it's an unofficial site) put some text in support of Arnold and link to his campaign site- http://www.joinarnold.com. This would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Bob
