City got $255M from convention Mayor says (Protesters= Anarchists= Al-Q?)
Edited on Fri Sep-03-04 09:27 PM by khephra
Republican Mayor Michael Bloomberg claimed Friday that the city economy got a $255 million boost from his party's convention even as some outside analysts deemed the numbers too subjective to be valid.

The number was trumpeted by the mayor as he and police officials fended off continued civil-liberties questions.

Meanwhile, a visibly exhausted Bloomberg backed away from his remarks Thursday equating anarchists' harassment of delegates with the al-Qaida terrorists.

"Obviously it's not the same level," he said at a news conference. "But the anarchists are trying to keep you from expressing yourself."

Unless I missed some "anarchists", he has to be talking about the protesters.

NY? You ready to kick his ass out yet?

Bloomberg may be confused. A $225 million loss is more likely.

There is freedom of expression in Bloomberg world... for people who agree with him. All others need not apply.

5. Actually he did nail his own coffin shut today in his
press conference. A reporter says to him.."You say the police did a great job? You can understand how that doesnt mean much to them because they havent gotten a raise." So Bloomburg says "We are doing the best we can but its up to the taxpayers and they dont want to pay anymore taxes."

So basically after making Newyorkers suffer through a convention they didnt want he turns around and blames the same people for the police not getting a raise. Hows that for a fuck you?

9. A whole year left
before NYC can vote him out, right? Still dunno how he got elected in the first place. I think I remember something about Sharpton helping him by hamstringing the Dem candidate.

7. Tell it to the street food vendors, or many small business that were...
forced to close up by the city for "security" reasons.

Many people took a huge loss this week. and bloomberg is to blame.

8. yeah, riiiight...
the loss to broadway, the loss to the square blocks of small and large businesses around the garden due to a complete blockade of pedestrians, the loss to other businesses throughout the city due to people staying away from the gridlock.

add to that the 78,000,000 for the week of additional security, per the local cbs news station, and you get a 255,000,000 boost to the new york economy.

that's as an acceptable a lie from mike bloomberg as the promoting of civil rights of grass over the civil rights of new yorkers.

i hope new yorkers remember it come the next mayoral election in 2005.

:grr:
