Democrats widen gap over Republicans in Nevada voter registration

(09-03) 16:46 PDT CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) --

Nevada's voter registration total now stands at nearly 1 million, with Democrats increasing their margin over Republicans, reports from state and local election officials showed Friday.

The total of at least 967,676 voters -- a record -- includes 945,981 Nevadans eligible to vote in Tuesday's primary, the secretary of state's office said. Others, because they missed the deadline for the primary, can vote only in the Nov. 2 general election.

A breakdown of the registration figures, updated to show the latest changes in Nevada's biggest counties, Clark and Washoe, show the 967,676 registered-voter total includes 393,445 Democrats and 389,858 Republicans -- a 3,587-registrant edge for the Democrats.

Statewide, Democrats account for 40.7 percent of the registered voters while Republicans represent 40.3 percent of the total. The rest are nonpartisans and splinter-party members.

4. Las Vegas has grown at an incredible
rate and many of the newcomers are Dems from California. Nevada used to be safely repuke, but no more.

5. Nevada has led the way in requiring a paper trail too.
They were the first state to require a paper confirmation of the ballot, to accompany the voting machines BY NOVEMBER.

Other states dink around. Nevada said, THIS WILL HAPPEN BY NOVEMBER.

6. Beter yet, the touch screen machines list the Republican candidates
as the "sucker bet."

OK, maybe not.
