Bush salutes workers in radio address
WASHINGTON (AFP) - President George W. Bush (news - web sites) saluted US Labor Day in his weekly radio address, touting domestic economic proposals two months before election day.

"America is home to the most dedicated, innovative and decent workers in the world. And thanks to their effort and enterprise, America's economy is strong and growing stronger," Bush said.

"We must make sure that America remains the best place in the world to do business," by encouraging investment, cutting government spending, regulation and taxation, Bush said.

He made the most of lukewarm job creation data from Friday, pointing to the 144,000 jobs created in August and the drop in the unemployment rate to 5.4 percent -- its lowest since October 2001.

4. why is no one making a big deal about the fact that job creation
is not keeping pace with the number of people entering the workforce?

And that unemployment numbers are incomplete and misleading because they don't count those of us who have run out of unemployment, who are under employed, consulting or temping in jobs that are not as functional as our old ones?

What am I missing here??

7. why is no one making a big deal about the fact that job creation"
You are not missing much except the administration is playing with the numbers for example they assume that for every company that closes there is another company that opens with the same number of jobs. The up side is that if the people who used to hold the 3 million manufacturing jobs that were lost vote to roust the Shrub. If the 2 million people who are under employed vote Democratic. If the Millions of people whose jobs have been sent off to India or China to line the CEO's pockets vote Democratic the Fascists in charge can smugly delude themselves until the votes are counted and they find themselves unemployed. When is the Democratic Leadership going to get a clue and start to hold these thieves to account? The facts on the record are enough to indite Cheney as well as The Idiot Bush and all their enablers.

Take away your overtime and create tax incentives to move your jobs to foreign countries, and he salutes you. Create a climate where CEOs' wages increase several hundred percent while the workers' wages are stagnant at best. I'll give you the one-finger salute right back at you!
