Bush strategists to deploy Cheney — for better or worse
Vice president to aim for stalwarts and undecideds

By LAURA MECKLER
Associated Press

WASHINGTON - Vice President Dick Cheney, enormously popular with conservatives, will be key to turning out the Republican base this November. But campaign officials say they will use Cheney to persuade undecided voters as well.

Democrats delight in the prospect, saying the vice president is so divisive that they hope swing voters hear his name again and again. Even some who were delegates to the GOP convention fear that Cheney's personal style and his reputation as a resolute conservative will turn these voters off.

The Bush campaign replies that Cheney has the stature and experience to discuss national security, a central issue in this campaign, and that voters know he could step seamlessly into the Oval Office if needed.

"We're not limiting him," said Bush strategist Matthew Dowd. "He's respected. Whether or not some Democrats like him or dislike him, he's respected."

1. Hmm.... Did they say he was...
... trusted, though? Last poll I saw said that only about 20% of the public trusted him.

Maybe even fewer like him.

I hope they put Cheney's mug all over the place so the public can see the brains of this corrupt operation talking out of the side of his mouth like a penny-ante mafioso.

3. From now on, we must ALWAYS refer to Cheney as Evil Dick Cheney.
We must tag him permanently with this moniker, so in the future, it is ALWAYS Evil Dick Cheney!

8. I say
"Cheney" Cheney...

How desparate they must be to even consider this a good idea. Another nail in the coffin.

9. Why Is Cheney Thought Of As Tough Guy?
How does Cheney keep his tough guy reputation? A fellow Republican, Alan Keyes launches a personal attack on Cheney's daughter and Cheney says nothing. He makes no move to defend her. How can we trust a man who won't defend his daughter to defend the country?

11. What a joke. I agree with the Democrats,
they should shove the Old Egghead's photo in everybody's face, all day long. At dinnertime for maximum effect.

He's such an obnoxios old creep that people will get sick. And just for the record, I don't believe the phrase "enormously popular".

I think the Ratpublican party is stuck with him. They can't push him off a cliff because everyone will know what happened.

Remember that rumour that was flying around about 2 months ago, about The Repugs dumping him for another, younger version like McCain, or even Giuliani? I think that was the StringPullers testing the waters. They were seriously thinking about giving Cheatin Cheney the boot because he's so tainted from his (many, myriad) connections with crime.

There probably wasn't enough public reaction for them to make a judgement, so they decided to keep the Old Moby Dick. Unless they've got some other plans up their sleeve.....

Time will tell. As of today, though, I believe he's a serious liability. Stand him next to John Edwards (who's only a few years younger than the Old Coot) and you'll see what I mean.

15. The Bush Flunky is a two-time Flunker
According to this article in Time Magazine, Dick Cheney flunked out of Yale ..... TWICE !!!!!!!

"...Both are Western oil men, Yale educated (though Bush got the degree, Cheney flunked out—twice)..."

http://www.time.com/time/personoftheyear/2002/poyrelationship2.html

Dick Cheney:

5 deferments
4 heart attacks
3 DUIs
2 flunk outs
1 asshole

BTW, anyone know how he maintained his draft deferred status while flunking twice out of Yale? I believe that 4 of his deferments were for academic reasons, while the 5th was for screwing (he had a kid) and I believe his wife's pregnancy was strangely timed for a 5th deferment because his student deferments were running out.

16. they've been saying this for a while
remember, he was supposed to be out and about during the dems' convention, but he never emerged from his hole. And he won't now. I don't think he can, physically or politically.
