Dean Draws Overflow Crowd in Washington
By NICHOLAS K. GERANIOS, Associated Press Writer

SPOKANE, Wash. - Democrats envisioned a forum for about 150. Presidential candidate Howard Dean's appearance drew hundreds more Monday.

On another leg of his "Sleepless Summer Tour," Dean attracted some 900 people, according to organizers, as the candidate answered questions about health care, the U.S.-led war against Iraq and the economy. His comments on protecting American jobs played well in this blue-collar city hit hard by the recession.

"The reason this campaign can draw 900 people in Spokane at 9 in the morning is because we want our country back again," Dean said. "Stand up and be proud to be a Democrat."

While Dean's answers on health care and jobs drew approval from the audience, he had a tougher time responding to reporters' questions about issues of importance to Washington state voters.

1. Way to go...Dean! I hope I can go to one of those tour stops!
I would be so excited! I can't wait for our local Dean Meetup on the 3rd of September! We're going to have it at Utica College and a NY Supreme Court Justice is going to be there!
