Woman arrested after interrupting Laura Bush speech
HAMILTON, N.J. -- A Hopewell woman whose son was killed while serving in Iraq was arrested Thursday after she interrupted a campaign speech by first lady Laura Bush.

Sue Niederer had refused to leave the rally and demanded to know why her son was killed in Iraq. She was eventually escorted from the rally site, a local firehouse, by police.
...
Dvorin was killed in February while trying to disarm a bomb in Iraq. The 24-year-old had just returned to Iraq after spending two weeks with his family.

The first lady continued speaking after the arrest, touting her husband's record on the economy, health care and the war on terror.
...
Mrs. Bush made several references to the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks during her speech Thursday. She said that many in New Jersey, including some in neighborhoods near the firehouse, lost family members that day.

"Too many people here had a loved one that went to work in New York that day," Bush said. "It's for our country, it's for our children, our grandchildren that we do the hard work of confronting terror."

20. Dead soldiers are ugly.
If they become more visible the terrorists will have won.

Focus on how we gave Iraq a new oligarchy of tolitarian dictators, ( albiet nicer ones),
to replace one really really bad one - who happened to be controlling access to a lot of oil.

I swear that woman has had a lobotomy or is on sedating meds. . She knows what side of the issue to lie for.

8. Is AP carrying this?
Is this story on AP's national wire? It is the sort of thing that
should get wider dissemination.

One of my gripes with the Kerry campaign is their failure (so far)
to make hay from the way Bush events are run. The reason Bush stays
"on message" is because he can with the controlled crowds. That won't
change, and Kerry should not start going that route either, but his
campaign must make this issue more visible. What kind of "popular"
leader is afraid to face the people?

11. I saw Sue Niederer
on tv a few days ago being interviewed by Deborah Norville. Of course she was placed side by side with a pro-chimp father who'd also lost a son in Iraq. Ms. Niederer was justifiably pissed and looked haunted by her ordeal.

This is what it's come to. Lose a son, question why, and get arrested. Repukes should hang their heads in shame.

Saw her on the local news tonight, and she heckled Pickles and asked why her daughters weren't sent, but was drowned out by Pukes shouting "4 more years".

When they arrested her outside she was talking to reporters and saying if they (Chimp Co., politicians, etc) agreed with the war so much, how come only 3 children of congressmen, Senators, etc. are serving.

33. That is such a horrid story to hear
But..is this what has become so normal..that Laura could not even have acknowledged the woman in some way..some sign of human compassion..even the faking of some human compassion..but to just go on as though this womans tragedy and this woman..were some kind of annoyance..a momentary one..and then to continue with her speech as though this annoyance of a human did not even exist. How did the audience react when this happened? Was no one moved by by this poor womans loss..were there no mothers in the audience? This is almost too heartless to contemplate.

34. Mrs. Bush should have stopped her prepared speech
as soon as she realized what Ms. Niederer was saying. Mrs. Bush should then have told the hecklers to cease and desist. Then she should have offered condolences and thanked Ms. Niederer for the sacrifice that her son made for our country. She should have asked Ms. Niederer to meet her after the speech. Then, since she is *'s wife, have talked about how important the Iraq war was to peace and freedom her in the U.S. and the world, pointing out that Ms. Niederer's son did not die in vain.

I don't share Mrs. Bush's views, obviously, but considering her views, that's the minimum that she should have done and said.

Mrs. Bush showed herself to be utterly heartless by allowing that woman to be treated terribly and by not honoring Ms. Niederer's loss.

she was not disorderly in any way she was speaking to reporters. The reporters were asking why she was being arrested and what she was being charged with and the cops wouldn't answer. Then one of them (reporters) said "you have to read her her rights her Miranda rights" Not in this police state you don't. They literally dragged her away. Disgusting ! I don't often feel as angry as I do since I saw that. I am really pissed off. I hope everyone that sees it, conservatives too, can see how flat out wrong it was.

I think Olberman said they charged her with criminal tresspass.

I don't have alot of cash but I'd skip a few meals to help her out. She seems to be okay where money is concerned I've seen her on another report several weeks ago and she had just moved into a nice new home in NJ but anyone that has the guts to challenge this administration like this and is illegally arrested should have their bills, fines, and fees paid for by the rest of us. 51. One woman yelled, "Your son chose to fight in that war."
Kathy Sweetapple of Hamilton waited in line outside the firehouse about two hours before Mrs. Bush arrived.

"I'm here to support Mrs. Bush and President Bush," Sweetapple said. "I support them because they're pro-life. I respect what they do and they are born-again Christians."

Morons.

64. Sweetapple is her real name?
Give me a fucking break! And so how is it her first name is NOT Eve? Have a child named Damien?

Yep, real pro-life, just like * (no, there's that abortion thing for his girlfriend, the war, and all that), well, just like Laura (no, there's that dead boyfriend thing), well, anyway, she's a pro (of self-delusion).

I truly do hope that there is a burning hell as they promised me as a child. It will be truly entertaining to see these bastards there.

72. Just saw the arrest on MSNBC
Was this shown on the networks anyone know ?

That was an outrage ! I am so friggen disturbed by what I just witnessed I have a lump in my throat.

Someone asked the other day in a poll whether you were proud to be an American.

Again, I am more ashamed than ever. What a disgrace.

80. Debate idea
Kerry should invite Ms. Lipscomb (F-911) and this mom to sit next to Theresa at the first debate - as invited, ticketed guests. It would make Georgie Boy pee himself walking on stage and seeing to mothers of dead soldiers looking at him during his big debates.

82. BBCAMERICA showed the video this morning
The station carries half-hour BBC news programs a few times a day. Since business & sports are also reviewed, there's not usually time for in-depth news coverage.

But it's interesting what they choose to show & how it's done. Bush was shown speaking about how wonderful things are going in Iraq--which led directly to scenes of Baghdad in chaos.

Then they showed the dead soldier's mother being pushed into a police van.

90. I called, my first call ever to the White House.
I told the operator that I was extremely distraught at how an Iraqi veteran's mother was treated outside of the event where Mrs. Bush was speaking - how she was speaking to reporters and was dragged into a police van without them giving her her rights, or telling her what she was charged with.

I could barely contain my anger, but at least I was polite.

85. Laura says,"..for our children..we do the hard work of confronting terror"
Biatch, WTF have you done to confront terror? Support your husband and his misadministration who is terrorizing us and the rest of the world?

And how can anyone with a conscious stand there while they arrest a mother whose son sacrificed his life for their supposed "war on terror" for excercising her first ammendment rights?

And they want us to fucking believe that the soldiers are fighting and dying for "our freedom" when they actively take it away from the families of the very soldiers that are fighting and dying for it?

Lt. Dvorin must be rolling in his grave if he has any knowledge of what they did to his mother.

Motherfuckers!

Those photo-perfect rallies are so staged. Remember the good old days when being on the hustings meant interactivity with voters? When GHW Bush was shadowed by a man in a chicken suit?

We have lost a lot.

96. I saw the footage last night and I still CANNOT believe my eyes......
She was clutching what appeared to be her slain son's blood-stained
hat.Police came along and handcuffed her outside the venue. Someone was shouting that it was public property. It was completely reminiscent of 1930's Germany; I screamed so loudly at the TV that my 19-month-old began to cry (oops). This is the perfect illustration of
the Bush hypocrisy. Her son died "protecting freedom" ( translation:needlessly),while his bereaved mother's civil and constitutional rights are being egregiously violated at home. SICKENING.
