Corporations Oppose Bush Forest Proposal
So even the corporations don't get why Bush wants to destroy our forests:

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=509&e=9&u=/ap/forest_proposal_letters

Building companies KB Home and Hayward Lumber, as well as office supply chain Staples Inc. — all major consumers of wood products — have lined up with environmental groups trying to protect Alaskan forests.

The three companies have sent letters to the U.S. Forest Service opposing a proposal that would exempt Alaska's Tongass and Chugach National Forests from a nationwide prohibition against road building in national forests.

6. this has been the republican stance for over 20 years now
and is the main reason I'm a Democrat.

They want to destroy the environment just to, well, piss off environmentalists. No other reason.

They're like really bad children

7. plot or no plot
Precipitating an environmental crisis(as with economic and geopolitical crises) hence a survival crisis for the burgeoning masses(currently getting a taste for prosperity, hope and democracy) would seem the happy result of these policies. Death and destruction fueling the exploitative wishes of an otherwise miserable bunch of antiquarian despots. Blackmailing or brutalizing the world. Many of them of would never dream that things would go so bad. In their cynical view the world would simply hand them all the power out of self interest matching their own and muddle on as always.

You can be amazed at the suicidal venality, incompetence and stupidity or ascribe to unproven conspiracy theories of the tallest order. What matters is results. If people don't put things back to rights and wake up from the madness the results will be equally and universally horrific. When it is inescapably apparent it will probably too late even to attempt to reason it out. And much of our so called world leadership seems incapable of reason.
