More deaths as US renews assault on Falluja
Saturday 18 September 2004

Three people have been killed and five injured in renewed US air strikes on the Iraqi town of Falluja amid widespread condemnation against the attacks.

The latest air strike by the US air force was launched on the Shuhada and industrial sectors of the city late on Friday, Aljazeera learned.

Earlier, Ahmad Hardan, member of the Local Council in Falluja, told Aljazeera that of the three killed, two were an elderly couple.

Five people were also injured in the air strike which targeted the Dhubat (officers) neighbourhood in the city, Hardan said.

"Three bodies were taken from the rubble," said one rescue worker. Another three people - among them two women and a child - were injured, ambulance workers said.

A US fighter jet dived over the city's Dhubat district at around 0930 (1730 GMT) and shortly afterwards a loud explosion rocked the area, said one resident.

1. Well, according to Armitage...
The surge in violence is an Iraqi attempt to influence our election.

I kid you not.

I don't have enough posts to post my own topics yet, so I hope this gets noticed here:

"U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage accused Iraqi insurgents on Friday of engaging in a cynical bid to undermine President Bush ahead of the U.S. presidential election in November.
"They're trying to influence the election against Mr. Bush," he said during a tour of eastern and central Europe.

"It's quite obvious that they would like to raise the cost to President Bush. I think this is their cynical effort to do that and to somehow influence our elections, and they will fail," Armitage told Reuters."

Yeah, that's it. They're not pissed off about being occupied by a foreign nation. They're cynically manipulating our electoral process.

It has to be a true statement. Nobody could make up something that ridiculous.

3. "Nobody could make up something that ridiculous"???
Of course they could. They do. Narcissism is not just about dying of thirst rather than disturbing one's own reflection in the water. It's about pathology. It's about using other people as a means rather than an end in themselves. It's about a degree of self-centeredness the leaves no room for compassion or empathy. It's about seeing starving people as an opportunity for larger profits. It's about seeing ill people as an opportunity for larger profits. It's about seeing a personal benefit from a whole range of human deprivations - and therefore acting to increase those deprivations.

These people are sociopaths. That's not hyperbole.

The US terrorists are slipping. No mention of this at Yahoo yet. I guess they need more bodies to make the news.
