Blair lets slip frustration over Northern Ireland with a flurry of f-words
Independent
By Nigel Morris Home Affairs Correspondent
18 September 2004

Tony Blair was letting his frustration show as the talks that could end with the IRA being disbanded and the Good Friday Agreement being rescued dragged on into last night.

The Prime Minister startled officials and Northern Ireland's politicians by using some of the most colourful language they had ever heard pass his lips as he met the province's leaders in the unlikely setting of Leeds Castle in Kent.

A complex of Tudor buildings, replete with a courtyard, miniature bridge and a moat populated by swans, it is an English castle as envisaged by Hollywood. One Sinn Fein negotiator was even glimpsed studying a souvenir brochure about it during a break in the negotiations.

Mr Blair and his Irish counterpart, Bertie Ahern, spent the day in discussions with the main political parties, attempting to find common ground between them. The parties said that progress was being made but that it was slow.

2. I though someone actually sponsored Cheney to say the F word
in the Senate:

Cheney paid $250,000 to say the "F" word in Senate

Capitol Hill, Monday 28 June) Accountants employed by Vice-President Dick Cheney today confirmed that the $250,000 paid to him by President Bush Senior was for saying the word "fee" in reply to questions regarding how much money he earned in expenses and commissions from Halliburton contracts in Iraq.

"Fee fie fo fum, the money means I ain't so dumb", commented Cheney as Senators questioned him about the wisdom of accepting such a sum when he could have so easily named his own price.

6. $28 million dollars - What if an American citizen gave Sinn Fein
$28 million dollars? Would there be an investigation? Just wondering because a high ranking employee of the DOD gave a $28 million dollar private donation to a foreign country for arms.

Just curious

7. If not for Iraq, liberals would love this story.
It would be evidence that Blair cared alot about something important.

Bush would let loose with a series of F-words if it looked like there was going to be PEACE in NI.

9. Don't forget: Blair is a very religious man
Right Tony? Blair is actually the most devout prime minister in England for many years (?)and he keeps getting more religious by the day.

And we all can see that.
