No Charges Against NJ Woman Who Heckled Mrs. Bush--Brown Shirt alert...
No Charges Against NJ Woman Who Heckled Mrs. Bush

(1010 WINS) (NEW YORK) Police have dropped charges against a Hopewell woman who was arrested when she interrupted a campaign speech by first lady Laura Bush to ask why her son was killed in Iraq.

Sue Sapir-Niederer had refused to leave the Thursday rally at a Hamilton fire house and was eventually escorted from the site. Sapir-Niederer wore a T-shirt that bore the words ``President Bush You Killed My Son'' and a picture of her son, Army 1st Lt. Seth Dvorin.

While he defended police for doing the right thing, Mercer County Prosecutor Joseph L. Bocchini Jr. issued a statement Friday that said police would dismiss the trespass charge.

``It is our determination that the police officers had more than enough probable cause to arrest Ms. Sapir-Niederer and were justified in the their actions,'' said Bocchini. ``Taking all factors into consideration, including the recent loss of her son while serving in the armed forces in Iraq, I believe that the continued prosecution of the this matter would serve no useful purpose.''

7. I think that only applies to what she says to the cops after the arrest
those statements would be thrown out, but that's about it.

11. They arrested a ticketholder for trespass
The charges were bogus, simple harassment, especially since she was already outside the venue.

17. What I don't understand
is that every article I've read says she was heckling Laura Bush and taken out of the venue and arrested. But the clip Keith Olberman showed had her speaking to the press outside when the police came and told her to leave because it was a private event. She said she had a ticket and that's when they started hassling her. What's up with that? What really happened?

14. regarding this picture
look at the kid in the far right .... his fists are tighly clenched. Must have been trained by a good republican daddy to get that angry at a political rally. Shouldn't he be playing nintendo rather than getting so lathered up over hate and politics?

4. Arresting for trespassing someone who held a ticket to the event is not
gonna fly in court as the woman who worked for FEMA proved. The brownshirts need to accept that this particular bully tactic is not gonna work on passionate people who know their rights.

Gonna take more standing up to them to make the point, I guess. Slow learners, they are.

5. Mighty white of Mr. Bocchini to not prosecute someone who
not only did not commit a crime, but was exercising her First Amendment freedoms, and who has suffered the hardest loss any parent can - the death of their child!

Yes, a close call by the Brown Shirt Squadron, but I'll admit, mighty white!

9. They never intended to prosecute her
The only reason she was arrested was to shut her up and get her out of there. And they succeeded in that aim.

Even if they had of charged her, the charges would have no doubt been dismissed. And they know that. But the short-term goal of quashing dissent at the bush rallies has been achieved.

10. Why didn't Pickled see to it that charges were dropped...
Why didn't our gracious "first lady" address this during her spewfest. She could have acknowledged the loss of the woman's son and personally seen to it that she wasn't held for her actions. Another woman loses her job in Alabama for displaying a Kerry bumper sticker and Kerry gets her a temp. job on his campaign. Pickled just went on about Chimpy's stellar leadership. The woman could rot in the lockup as far as she cared.

12. If Pickles had a heart
she would apologize personally to Mrs. Niederer. But that would require empathy. I guess Mrs. Niederer won't be getting an apology.

15. It is hard to figure this pickles chick out
Part of me thinks she is so drugged up and scared that she can't do anything other that say her lines. She never acts on impulse or exhibits any emotion. I think vice pres. pickles has no heart, but there is something familiar in pres. pickles that makes me uncomfortable in coming down too hard on her. But, on the other hand I know I can be a pushover at times. I think the twins act out in drinking and ugly behavior and she simply has shut down. Okay, flame me *LOL*. It is okay and maybe I'll learn something.

She was starting to talk to journalists and was promptly arrested and taken away in a van for no reason.

19. Really good clip!
Good they dropped the charges - of course, it would have been really fun to watch them humiliate themselves at a trial (the prosecution)!
