WTimes: Al Qaeda seen planning for 'spectacular' attack

U.S. intelligence agencies concluded recently that al Qaeda — fearing its credibility is on the line — is moving ahead with plans for a major, "spectacular" attack, despite disruptions of some operations by recent arrests in Britain and Pakistan.

Officials said recent intelligence assessments of the group, which is blamed for the September 11 attacks, state that an attack is coming and that the danger will remain high until the Nov. 2 elections and last until Inauguration Day on Jan. 20.

"They think their credibility is on the line because there hasn't been a major attack since 9/11," said one official familiar with intelligence reports on the group.

A second official said: "There isn't reason to believe that the recent arrests have disrupted their plans."

Expect especially if Kerry wins. And if * steals another one you egg throwers will be designated Al Qaeda.

1. How is al Qaeda operating so effectively? Isn't our CIC stopping them?
You would think God would just TELL George where to find them and drop the bombs....

Start dropping bombs on my house and kill my wife and kids and I would be al Qaeda too. Glad to know the adults are in charge.

Al Qaeda 'planning 'US election attack'
21 September 2004

Snip:

Intelligence sources told the Washington Times that the risk to the US would remain high around the time of the November 2 presidential election and the January 20 Inauguration. ..........

The newspaper said a key al Qaida figure being sought in North America is Adnan Shukrijumah, who is wanted by the FBI.

One official said Shukrijumah was recently seen in Mexico and earlier had been in Canada near a university.

10. The Fascist Wurlitzer spins another looney tune.
First 'leaked' through Drudge and sung a capella through Scaife/Moon propaganda outlets, it's another 'don't look behind that curtain!" Not a single named 'source' is used. Not one.

"U.S. intelligence agencies concluded..."
"Officials said ..."
"... said one official ..."
"A second official said ..."
"analysts say ..."
"... the officials said. The officials said ..."
"Intelligence officials say ..."
"One official said ..."

If this is journalism, I'm Lassie. :eyes:

22. Exactly, It's amazing how in tune Al-Queda is with
the needs of the Bush Administration. 9/11 and now another one just before the election!

The way I read this is:

"The Federal Government reserves the right to stage a terrorist attack, or a least threaten a terrorist attack, based upon our Nimrod President's popularity in the polls."

11. My mind boggles
I just CANNOT for the life of me understand how people could buy this kind of shit. Not the fact that we should be on alert for some kind of attack. I am quite sure that we haven't seen the last of terrorism here in the US. It's the fact that they give FUCKING DATES. Like on Jan 21 the alert level will go down. I think that it is pretty obvious that this is more of the line of BS that Cheney was spouting. Vote for us or die.

13. This is a non-story by the Moonie Times
It was reported today that it was reported some time ago that the Department of Homeland Insecurity needs to occasioinally remind us that we are all in a constant state of terror ever since GeeDubya has taken over. Words like "spectacular" will constantly be used in these reports.
*************
Pffft
*************
Of course any attack on us would be spectacular.
Any attack on us would be a serious tragedy.
Why do they have to keep reminding us that they have already reminded us?
What are WE THE PEOPLE supposed to do about it?

It's the government that has the power to protect us, but they are using the funds for our protection in Iraq, to make the Iraqis more "safe".
Any responsible news organisation that is not reporting that AMERICANS are less safe because of GeeW's arrogance and misuse of power is guilty of the same arrogance and misuse of power if you ask me.
Honestly, it makes my head spin.

14. Moonie Times Yellow Journalism Alert!
Warning, reading anything from Washington "Moonie" Times may be hazardous to your intellectual well being. Moonie Times is owned by the cult leader Sun Myung Moon.

"Some people may oppose me, but they will go down the drain after a while and end up in hell…. I came with the teaching that the world and religions should become one… Soon, the American president will have to visit me to seek advice."
