Defiant Bush demands more UN help to fix Iraq
sorry if this is a dupe. I loved the French flair in the headline and article!

http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/afp/20040921/pl_afp/un_us_bush_iraq_040921165440

<snip>

Despite the violence and the collapse of his two principal justifications for the war, Bush unapologetically told the UN General Assembly in a speech that it must step up support for Iraqi Prime Minister Iyad Allawi's fledgling government.

"The government of Prime Minister (Iyad) Allawi has earned the support of every nation that believes in self-determination and desires peace," said Bush, who was to host the Iraqi leader at the White House on Thursday.

The president made no mention of the November 2 US election or of Democratic White House hopeful John Kerry (news - web sites), who accuses him of "colossal failures of judgment" that have wrought a "crisis of historic proportions" in Iraq.

But, like Kerry, Bush pointed to two UN Security Council resolutions passed since Baghdad fell to US troops in April 2003, including one in June 2004 that endorsed the new interim government and a multinational force to keep order.

6. word!
i wonder how many foreign leaders would like for the turd in chief to be flushed come November.

I know kerry said a few months back(and the rove-ites made a big stink about this) that many world leaders have expressed their backing for kerry.

5. We told the Security Council flat out there would be no invasion...
...without a second resolution after 1441. There's no way 1441 would have passed without that assurance.

So we lied.

For Bush to go back to that body today, and base his justification of the invasion on 1441, is beyond belief, beyond arrogance.

some Americans (or at least one) is going to be cooking the books on their self employment records so as to pay as little as possible for your 'Blood for Oil' war.

If you can't get Americans to pay for your genocide, best of luck trying to get citizens of other countries to.

Why don't you go begging over at Freerepublic, you awol piece of shit?

9. Support the US Puppet Govt.
The head good is a former Iraqi Baath Party defector turned terrorist and CIA asset. Anyone that is half paying attention knows that most of the Iraqis would hang this goon if given the opportunity. W is an emberassment to Amerika. It must have taken a lot of retraint for many at the UN to restrain laughter at this arrogant twit's speech.

23. Cdn Perspective- " Bush gives hell to UN"
http://www.canoe.ca/NewsStand/WinnipegSun/News/2004/09/22/638670.html
...
Bush used his 15-minute address to the UN to criticize advocates of pulling out of Iraq.
..
Bush called on the UN to sharpen its teeth and start backing up its ideals with muscle when the rule of law is broken.
...
Bush addressed the international community after sustaining veiled criticism by UN Secretary General Kofi Annan.

ABUSE OF PRISONERS

Annan chastised those leaders who preach the rule of law but readily break it, pointing to the abuse of prisoners by the U.S. military as a clear example.

"At times even the necessary fight against terrorism is allowed to encroach unnecessarily on civil liberties," Annan said.

"Those invoking it do not always practise what they preach. Those who seek to bestow legitimacy, must themselves embody it."

Prime Minister Paul Martin refused to take sides in the debate on American actions in Iraq.

"I'm not going to look back," the PM said yesterday.

"What is required is international law that is applicable to an evolving situation. As far as we're concerned, what's important now is that we look forward."
