(Rupert) Murdoch gets $12.5 million bonus

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS.MW) - News Corp. mogul Rupert Murdoch received a $12.5 million bonus in fiscal 2004, a 40-percent increase from the bonus he received the previous year, according to the company's annual report.

Combined with Murdoch's salary of $4.5 million, and other compensation of $145,000, the bonus brought the News Corp. chairman's total pay package to $17.1 million.

In fiscal 2003, Murdoch received a bonus of $7.5 million, and a total package of $14 million.

The company posted a net profit of $1.6 billion in fiscal 2004, a 57-percent improvement from the previous year.
