NZ Iraq troops home by Saturday
NEW Zealand's military personnel in Iraq will be home Saturday, Defence Minister Mark Burton said in a statement Thursday.

The 61 army engineers, who have been based in Basra in southern Iraq, were due to leave by the end of the month after a year long deployment.

They are to be flown out on a military Boeing 757 and be greeted by Prime Minister Helen Clark at Ohakea base, north of here.

Clark earlier said it was unlikely any further deployments would be made.

"I can't see that at this time. I think Iraq is just too difficult and too dangerous,"
she told Radio New Zealand Wednesday.

And the UK is starting their draw-down of troops in Iraq...soon it'll be just the 140,000 Americans.

And 12 Moldovans.

WOW what a "coalition".

2. Great!
Wow! you say a government actually keeps its word to the people?
They are honest?
They tell the truth?
Not here in the US.
Maybe someday we will be able to trust our 'elected' president.

9. Yes,
New Zealand's government officials have something called
integrity and accountability...that's why we refer to it as
being a 'foreign' country...because those concepts are completely
'foreign' to our government officials

5. Now if only South Korea will stop caving to Bush's blackmail...

The people of South Korea definitely do not want the troops there. President Roh is getting played by the hawks in the South Korean military and government.
