U.S. Weighs American-Led U.N. Iraq Force
WASHINGTON - The Bush administration is exploring the possibility of establishing a U.N.-endorsed multinational force in Iraq (news - web sites) that would be led by an American commander, a top State Department official says.

Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage acknowledged that the idea is one of many being weighed by the administration as it attempts to deal with continuing violence in that country almost four months after President Bush (news - web sites) declared an end to major combat operations.

2. What part about NOT subordinating the mission to US dictates
do the Bushies not understand?

Yes, there have been "US led" UN forces in the past, but always for purely organizational needs.

The UN is not subordinate to one of its member states, especially when that member state flew in the face of the spirit of the UN charter by waging aggressive war. Despite the March lies of the neo-cons, the US/UK colonizing forces never had close to a majority vote in the UN Security Council (which is why they abandoned the effort, which they surely would have forced to a veto if they had the votes), and the General Assembly opposed their despicable war en masse. They need to cede total control of the process to the UN immediately, and pull significant numbers - if not all - of the US forces from Iraq.
