Boy Charged in Father's Slaying in Texas
The Guardian

Thursday September 30, 2004 3:16 PM

HOUSTON (AP) - A 10-year-old suspected of fatally shooting his father a month ago after watching his parents endure a bitter divorce has been charged with murder.

The boy was charged last week in the Aug. 27 death of Dr. Rick Lohstroh, lawyer David Matthews said.

The 41-year-old physician was shot outside the Katy home of his ex-wife, Deborah Geisler, after he arrived to pick up his two sons for a weekend visit following a divorce that included unproven allegations of sexual abuse of the 10-year-old by the father.

Investigators say the boy, who was taking the anti-depressant Prozac at the time of the slaying, took a pistol from the home, climbed into the back seat of his father's sport utility vehicle and shot Lohstroh in the back.

1. If the father sexually abused the boy...
the father got what he deserved.

2. READ the article!! It doesn't say that!
It was UNPROVEN allegations. It's widely known in legal circles that nasty divorces OFTEN spawn unsubstantiated claims of sexual abuse against the father... it's one of the filthiest tricks in the divorce game. It rarely works, but many women are encouraged by friends and even lawyers to play that card, to get custody of the kids right away.. because it's harder to get them away from you once you have them.

This is just a sick, sad story... a 10 year old on Prozac is tragic. Loaded weapons in a house with a 10 year old, who is obviously undergoing some sort of mental health issues, is criminal.

Sounds like just an ugly, ugly situation. You have no right to blame the father.. you have no idea what really happened. Obviously the police know more than you, if they are charging the boy.

3. Unproven
Doesn't mean it didn't happen.

4. Oh.. but let's ASSUME it happened.. right?
Even though (if you ask any detective) cases like that are rampant.. false accusations to tip a divorce/custody battle. I guess people here believe what they want, because they always assume the father is bad, and the mother is good.

6. caliphoto, the fact...
that the 10 year old boy got a gun and shot the father is a pretty strong indicator that there was something BAD going on there. That kind of rage isn't likely to just be caused by the parents arguing...

7. No
What I'm saying is that just because molestation wasn't legally proven, it doesn't mean it didn't happen. Read DNR's post below -- that was my point.

5. Reread what I posted....
notice the first word was "if".

I don't know if the father molested the son. But just because the allegation hasn't yet been proven does NOT mean that the allegation isn't truthful.

I stand by my statement. If the father sexually molested the boy, the father got what he deserved.

The fact that the police are charging the boy means nothing. It's convictions that matter, right? Or is the father innocent until proven guilty, and the boy guilty until proven innocent?

Sexual abuse of children is an epidemic in this country. It's morally repugnant. And people who sexually abuse children deserve to die.

She may have also influenced he son to kill his father or If she allowed him access to the gun she maybe co-conspirator.. or If..

9. Jesus H. Christ.
Prozac no more turns 10 year old kids into programmable homicidal maniacs than too much sugar does.
