FORUM: Hispanic Vote Will Decide Nov. Presidential Election

Hispanics will decide who will win the White House in the upcoming Nov. 2 election, panelists at a forum in Miami on the impact of the Hispanic vote said Wednesday.
The University of Miami forum featured Univision television network anchor Jorge Ramos, National Council of La Raza president Raul Yzaguirre, New Democratic Network adviser and former director of the Cuban American National Foundation Joe Garcia and state Rep. David Rivera, R-Miami.
While many debate whether it will be the presidential candidates' stances on the economy, the war in Iraq or the fight against terrorism which will decide who wins the election, the panelists believe that, in reality, everything boils down to the Hispanic vote and which candidate can secure it.
Jorge Ramos called this the "Christopher Columbus syndrome," since every four years Hispanics are "discovered" by politicians who then go to great lengths to woo their vote.
