Both sides land solid hits (Pittsburgh Trib. Review)
Edited on Wed Oct-06-04 02:44 AM by henslee
If it was judged like a boxing match, Vice President Dick Cheney and Democratic challenger John Edwards finished with a split decision in their debate, political experts said.

Cheney and Edwards' only debate in the 2004 election left political and communications experts divided over which candidate scored the most decisive punches.

2. The trib is owned by Mellon-Scaife....
If they say it's even, then Edwards won.

4. Anyone from around Pittsburgh knows
that the Tribune Review is a NEWSpaper in the same way that FAUX NEWS is a NEWS network. Richard Mellon Scaife owns it. If they ever said anything positive about a Democrat, every issue would immediately burst into flames.
:puke:

7. Exactly
Most people in Pittsburgh laugh at the Trib. If you get 'the paper' in pittsburgh that means the Post-Gazette. The Trib isn't even printed in the same county as Pittsburgh, they're out in the boondocks.

8. You're right. No self-respecting Pittsburgher reads the Trib.
Well, I should amend that and say that a lot of people here read the Trib, but the paper of record is still the good old Post-Gazette.

5. if the debate is considered a "tie" the win
goes to Edwards because the expectations were that Cheney would "win" - having all his "experience" and all.

So there is no "tie" here, folks. Edwards held his own and then some.

6. yes a tie is a great victory
It means they could not destroy Edwards like they planned and it means the people think Edwards is as fit for the job as Cheney. Cheney did not bring the bacon home for Bush and he needed to.
