Oil Prices Surge on Mexico Pipeline Blast

Associated Press
Oil Prices Surge on Mexico Pipeline Blast
Wednesday October 13, 3:27 pm ET

NEW YORK (AP) -- Crude oil futures rallied back above $53 late on Wednesday on speculation and panic sparked by an oil line explosion in Mexico.

Traders were also nervously monitoring developments in Nigeria's national strike and recovery efforts in the Gulf of Mexico.

(snip)

The news was enough to set off buying in an already jittery market atmosphere, said Ed Silliere, vice president of risk management at Energy Merchant LLC in New York.

3. A Premium charged for Bushi instability
Supplies aren't down. What is going on is oil companies and distributors are charging for risk. Market risk in supplies being disrupted by war, war risk in their own facilities being destroyed.

"Jittery" is a word for it, but everyone wants more profit today to compensate for tomorrow's risks--risks that the businesses know exist despite Bush's lies.

Its money down the tube.
