Michael Moore Considers Legal Action Against Cable Company
Michael Moore is considering taking legal action against a US cable pay-per-view TV company for dumping his pre-election special, which included the airing of his controversial documentary Fahrenheit 9/11.

The cable company, iN DEMAND, said it based its decision to drop the program on "legitimate business and legal concerns."

The US$9.95, 3 hour pay-per-view special was to include interviews with celebrities with strong political opinions, as well as Moore's "Fahrenheit 9/11."

The special was to air on the eve of the US presidential election.

Moore told the press he signed a contract with iN DEMAND early last month and is considering legal action.

2. What's a signed contract compared to being threatened by the Boosh mob?

This is what I wrote:

To whom it may concern,

I'm writing regarding your decision to dump Micheal Moore's pre-election special. I love my In Demand. It is one of the reasons we initially decided to stick with cable instead of switching to Direct TV. However, I'm upset at your recent decision to drop Moore's special. I was looking forward to it and had planned on ordering it. I hope that you will reconsider your decision. We are already reconsidering a switch to Direct TV, and your decision to pull the special is upsetting. If your decision stands, then I'm not sure In Demand is a feature that we'll consider in our decision, and even if we do stick with cable, we'll not avail ourselves of the service in the near future. Again, I hope you will reconsider.

11. Sounds good.
But don't threaten them with DirecTV, since Ruper Murdoch owns it.

Try Dish Network instead. They have Free Speech TV as one of their stations, which is worth the price ALONE. And they dare to stand up for their viewers against the bigger assholes who try to hike up rates.

15. The only reason
I used Direct TV is because I don't know what the general term for that kind of satellite, and I couldn't remember the name of Dish Network. :) I think I had the two confused; I was having a parent brain moment(you lose a few braincells with each child, I'm convinced of it).

We've ruled out Direct TV for the Murdoch reason as well as others. I would love to have Free Speech TV!

Hell, I don't even have digital cable (which means no PPV for you!). But I'm willing to pony up $10 just to keep MM alive and in our corner.

14. Here's what I wrote them, for what it's worth:
I am writing to let you know that I am disgusted by your decision to dishonor your agreement with Michael Moore to air "Fahrenheit 9/11" on your pay-per-view service on the eve of the election.

That, in my opinion, is the only means by which the current playfield - wherein Sinclair Broadcasting has free reign to offer a propaganda piece attacking Kerry's war record in the name of "news" - can be leveled. And even then, the Sinclair propaganda piece is being forced upon those markets and will be publicly broadcast, whereas people who wish to watch F-9/11 will still be required to pay your company for the privelege.

You can be rest assured that if you do not honor your contract with Mr. Moore, I will never consider using your service again and I will also make it a point to discuss your buisness practices with my friends and co-workers.

Thank you for your time.

21. Just wrote.
Thanks for posting an address; I've just written to them. I have digital cable with ON Demand, and up til now I have used it. I won't anymore, and I told them that, until they honor their contract. Hell, Hollywood Video is just down the street. I'll post if I get a reply.
