Soldier back from Iraq held in W. Side murder
http://www.suntimes.com/output/news/cst-nws-shopded19.html

A soldier who recently returned from duty in Iraq is being held in the killing of a West Side store owner -- the seventh GI from Fort Riley, Kan., accused of murder in about a month, authorities said Monday.

Spec. Pierre E. Cole, 22, was on leave from his unit at Fort Riley when he and his uncle, 37-year-old Lee McGee, shot James Jung to death Thursday night in a holdup of the Best Fit clothing store in the 4000 block of West Madison, police said. snip

Cole was a mechanic on Bradley armored vehicles with the 1st Battalion, 34th Armor at Fort Riley. The Chicago native joined the Army in January 2002. He was stationed in Iraq from September 2003 until last month, an Army spokesman said. Cole recently signed up for another tour with the Army, Pallohusky said.

On Sept. 15, two Fort Riley soldiers were charged with murder in the killings of two soldiers in Kansas. On Sept. 22, two more Fort Riley soldiers were charged with murder in the killings of three civilians in Iraq. Then, on Sept. 26, two other Fort Riley soldiers were charged with murder in an unrelated killing of an Iraqi civilian.

2. WTF is going on with these Ft. Riley soldiers?
Seven have been accused of Murder in this one Battalion? They need to scrutinize what was taking place within this Bn before it spreads.

3. I live right near Fort Riley
This is getting spooky, to say the least.

Guys are coming back from Iraq in very bad shape. Confused, demoralized, depressed and anxious.

The story is similar to Vietnam vets.

An anti-war movement is badly needed now. It will be a bit easier to get going if Kerry is elected, but either way we will need a tenacious political and cultural movement like it took to end the Vietnam War.

It will also require a thourough debunking of myths, ideology and propaganda surrounding 9/11 and the "War on Terror". Democrats are now paying a high price for not taking this up sooner. Michael Moore was headed in the right direction with "Fahrenheit 9/11", and if the Democratic "leadership" had kept pressing in that direction there would be no doubt about who was going to win this election!

4. There was something similar happening last year
with returning soldiers and skyrocketing rates of domestic violence and homicide at Fort Bragg.
