Kerry to go hunting for conservative votes

By NEDRA PICKLER
ASSOCIATED PRESS WRITER

PITTSBURGH -- John Kerry planned to go hunting Thursday, showing he's a regular guy to voters who might harbor some doubts.

Kerry adviser Mike McCurry said it's important in the final days of the campaign that voters "get a better sense of John Kerry, the guy."

As Kerry goes hunting near Youngstown, Ohio, Thursday morning, readers of the local newspaper will see a full-page ad bought by the National Rifle Association that says Kerry is posing as a sportsman while opposing gun-owners' rights.

"If John Kerry thinks the Second Amendment is about photo ops, he's Daffy," says the ad that the NRA said would run in The Vindicator. It features a large photo of Kerry with his finger on a shotgun trigger but looking in another direction.

3. Well...
the part about the NRA was further down into the story. The reporter didn't really dwell on it.

10. OK I did read the entire article . It was dripping with venom.
Find one positive thing in that entire article that she said about Kerry that wasn't countered with something negative or demeaning.
I couldn't. Pickler is covering his campaign for AP. She made some remarks while she was on the campaign plane that were so biased that if I had been her editor I would have removed her from her duties. Immediately. Sorry for ranting. I just can't stand her and that certainly has nothing to do with you or your post.

2. Thought some of you might enjoy...
Kerry may not get the support of the NRA, but at least the Bush cousins are smart...

4. Sure wish John wasn't a hunter. Target shooting is one thing. But
killing and causing an animal to suffer and calling it sport. I just don't get it. If you're doing it to eat, I guess its okay. I am sure some DUers are hunters. I wish they could explain what this is all about.

5. I take it you're an unwavering vegetarian then?
Because an animal in the field, even if it suffers in death, has had a million times better life than any animal raised to be killed (with the exception of some "organic/free range" animals).

hypocrite so string me up. Now with that confession out of the way, I will restate that I cannot fathon how thousands of guys actually enjoy shooting an animal, watching it agonize and die and have the audacity to call it sport. What is the sport, my friend? My favorite are the guys who use the digital animal callers. Duping a lower member of the food chain, now that's a real challenge.

on edit: Oh and so what if an animal killed in the wild has a better life than one raised in captivity is really irrelevant to my questioning whether or not hunting is truly a sporting activity. Hey I know this is just my opinion. You've got yours and you are not alone.

12. Well
The people I knew went out and hunted in real mountains, not game ranches. And they ate everything they shot, or gave it to the local food pantry. It was guys, mostly, getting out in the woods and they did actually track and learn the land and animal behavior, and well, hunt. That doesn't happen everywhere though. I hate game ranch hunters or hunters just going out for the rack. My husband has even let a few of those big, beautiful animals go.

in Vietnam.I rehabilitate wildlife, and sport hunters absolutely sicken me.

11. Horseback riding
They should have put him and Teresa on horses and had them ride through the autumn leaves. Georgie is skeered of horsies. Much better than these hunting trips I think.
