THE HAGUE (AFP) - Slobodan Milosevic (news - web sites) called on a UN appeals court to overturn a decision order imposing lawyers on the former Yugoslav president in his war crimes trial, a move supported by his reluctant defence team.
"The best and only solution, in my opinion, is for you to give me back my rights... I cannot agree to anything less," Milosevic said.
"For three years now the (prosecution) has been explaining crimes I did not commit and intentions I did not have... We are not talking about law here but politics."
He was speaking at a hearing of the UN war crimes court's appeals chamber which is considering an appeal to overturn a lower court's decision to impose defence counsel.
