More Than 100 Jewish Graves Desecrated In Berlin

BERLIN (Reuters) - More than 100 graves were desecrated at Europe's biggest Jewish cemetery, Berlin's Jewish Community organization said Monday.

In all, 103 gravestones at the Weissensee cemetery in the east of the German capital were overturned, the organization said in a statement, expressing its ``dismay and disgust'' at the outrage. A spokeswoman said it was not clear when it happened.

A police spokesman confirmed that there had been an attack but could give no further details.

Germany, and particularly the formerly Communist east around Berlin, has been troubled by sporadic neo-Nazi and anti-foreigner violence in recent years.
