CIA Thinks Alleged Saddam Tape Was Authentic

WASHINGTON (AP)

CIA officials think a taped message that was purportedly from Saddam Hussein is, in fact, a recording of the former ruler. But they don't know when it was taped.

The recording first surfaced Friday on the Arab al-Jazeera television network. The speaker claims to be Saddam and says he is directing attacks on U.S. forces in Iraq. The voice also asserts the recording was made on June 14.

CIA analysts believe the tape is probably authentic, but say the sound is too poor to be certain. And they add there's nothing on the tape to prove that it was recorded recently.

Second verse, same as the first.

Same $25 million dollar price tag.

Same sudden appearance of "tapes"

It's the Osama script all over again
