Democrats file 9 suits in Florida
http://www.washtimes.com/national/20041027-123332-5663r.htm

Democrats in Florida already are pursuing nine election-related lawsuits, accusing state election officials of conspiring to disenfranchise minority voters.
Led by the Florida Democratic Party, the People for the American Way, the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees and the AFL-CIO, the lawsuits target, among others, Florida Secretary of State Glenda Hood, who was appointed by Republican Gov. Jeb Bush, President Bush's brother.
The suits say Republican officials refused to count provisional ballots, improperly disqualified incomplete voter registrations, established overly restrictive rules to disproportionately hurt minority voters and actively sought to disenfranchise blacks.

1. Big Ballot Mystery
Local 10 Uncovers Big Ballot Mystery - Elections Office Says Situation Is 'Odd':

BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. -- Local 10 has received many phone calls from viewers in Broward County who say they have not received the absentee ballots –- and the news from the elections office doesn't sound good.

Local 10 has learned that many as many as 58,000 ballots that were supposed to mailed out on Oct. 7 and 8 could be missing.

The Broward County Supervisor of Elections office is saying only that the situation is "unusual," and they are looking into it.

Gisela Salas, Broward Deputy Elections Supervisor, said, "I hate to say 'missing' at this time because that has not yet be substantiated. Some ballots are starting to arrive. But there is an extraordinary delay."

An elections office representative told Local 10 that the office has investigated with the U.S. Post Office what might have happened to the ballots, but so far, no one has been able to figure it out.

"It is unusual. It's a puzzle on the part of our office and the postal service," Salas said. "Our office did make the delivery and the post office assures us they were processed. What happened is in question."

The postal service told Local 10 late Tuesday that they don't have 58,000 ballots floating around. They did say that they have several employees assigned to deal only with ballots and they are being delivered in one to two days -- once they get them.

9. the same thing may have happened in Lee County FL
My father, who's a "snowbird" in Fort Myers, legally changed his official residence to Ft. Myers and asked for an absentee ballot to be sent to him in Connecticut. He e-mailed me recently that he still had not received the ballot, and when he called to find out what happened was told the ballots had been mailed at the beginning of October but appeared to be "missing" as several other people had called looking for their ballots. I e-mailed him yesterday for follow-up but I think he's having some e-mail or computer problems and hasn't answered me yet.

3. Is everyone getting this ad on this link page?
When I hit the link, there's an ad stating:

"John Edwards
hazardous to your health
save american medicine.com
To your health"

Random ad placements oftentimes make both the publication, the article and the advertiser look like a bunch of clowns.

11. The biggest question is
whether voters in Florida will continue to take this crap.

Instead of 9 lawsuits, there should be 90!!

Any voter of any stripe in Florida who believes in a fair process should turn out big and vote these bastards out - way out. Remove all doubt.

If there were any doubts about who to vote for in the minds of Florida voters, these events should remove them. The choice is obvious and it's Kerry.

Even if some voters in FL, can't bring themselves to vote for Kerry (much like the Cleveland Plain dealer), they should register a protest and vote ABB!!!

Kerry on !!!

10. "conspiring"
They'll call it networking. My local officials network all the time. And with lawyers and judges. The Dems better watch closely who's sitting behind the bench.

13. Does Florida have a RECALL the governor law? I think it's time to
put up enough money and recall Jeb if he can't provide honest reliable elections in our state.

15. What is wrong with America?
Being a swede this election really amazes me. There are so many crazy stories floating around and it's impossible to say what is fact and what is fiction. Everything and everyone seems to be biased. In my country we have a self-regulating media system, without stare involvement. Most serious papers and broadcasters are members of a board that continuously reviews what is claimed in medio. If you make an unsubstantiated biased claim you get criticized and forced to correct. Yes, the language might seem boring, but as a reader it's easier to tell the difference between fact and speculation. Another amazing thing thing is that you seem to have different voting systems in different states, even in different counties. How can you register twice, as some republicans claim has occured in Ohio? Such a thing should never be possible. And why do you get your ballot on different days? Isn't is possible to have the same date for everyone, like any other civilized country? I order for a system to be trust-worthy every citizen ought to be treated exactly the same. I don't see how that can be so difficult in the world's "greatest" democracy.
