(CBS) In early September, a candlelight vigil was held for 19-year-old Samantha Spady. The high school homecoming queen and Colorado State University freshman had gone on a binge - consuming an estimated 30-40 drinks.

And, as Rick Sallinger of KCNC-TV in Denver reported for The Early Show, Spady was found dead on the floor of a fraternity house, where friends had left her to sleep.

Just 12 days later, not far away at the University of Colorado, another body was found at another frat house.

Contrary to long-standing beliefs about it's ill effects, every single person in a new UMass study found binge drinking to be really fun.

I (obviously) dont believe that humans should control and dictate evolution, that would be the Nazis.(and America in the early 1900's)

Excuse me for pointing out that we humans aren't above and beyond evolution...

And calamitous Bush World is a big part of it driving kids to believe that tomorrow will be worse than today. They are frightened by the war and civil devisions. They feel it and turn to drink and drugs to dull the pain with disastrous results.

From drinking too much. I wish they would tell these kids the plain truth. Binge drinking is something else entirely and is a type of alcoholic. You can't convince a college student who rarely drinks that they're alcoholics, so I don't know why in god's name they're trying. Alcohol poisoning, you put too much in your system and it'll kill you. Even if you rarely drink. Simple.

30 to 40 drinks?! Even I learned about the dangers of overdrinking way before college (and I'm a soph. in college right now).

Too bad they didnt mention what her BAC was.

Just speaking for myself, as a girl about her age, by the time I've had four drinks or so I am significantly impaired: dizzy, unable to walk straight, possibly borderline unconscious. According to the BAC calculator, if I had ten or so within an hour I would already be pretty much...dead. Or close to it.

How did this chick manage to even get up to 30-40? A funnel? A hose?
