MSNBC: CIA can’t authenticate taped threat to US

The CIA is unable to authenticate a videotape in which a man claiming to be an al-Qaida terrorist warns of devastating new attacks on the United States, a senior U.S. intelligence official told NBC News on Wednesday.

The existence of the tape was first reported Wednesday afternoon by Internet columnist Matt Drudge, who said it was obtained last weekend in Pakistan by ABC News. Drudge quoted an unidentified “senior ABC News source” as saying the network was “working 24 hours a day trying to authenticate” it.

But the senior intelligence official, speaking on condition of anonymity, told NBC News that “we can’t authenticate” the tape, a copy of which ABC gave the CIA on Monday. He would not elaborate, adding, “I think that is where we are going to stand.”

Pentagon leaks alleged terror tape to Drudge, Fox before authentication

A senior Bush federal official told the Drudge Report of a previously unreported ‘terror’ tape early this afternoon, saying that it had been acquired by ABC News in Pakistan. The Pentagon has confirmed the tape’s existence with Fox News.

Drudge asserts that ABC News is withholding the tape before the election; ABC says that it thinks it important to authenticate the tape before making it public.

As not a single tape has been released to the American press before the Arab media, the tape’s release will surely raises questions about it being politically engineered.

According to Drudge, the ‘terrorist’ is in fact an American, and says, “The streets will run with blood,” and “America will mourn in silence” because “they will be unable to count the number of the dead.” It is said to add that America has brought this on itself for electing George Bush who has made war on Islam by destroying the Taliban and making war on Qaeda.

The CIA is analyzing the tape, a senior Bush source informed Drudge (amplification: both the Pentagon and the federal government are overseen by the executive branch of the Bush administration).

If anyone hasn't noticed this, than I suggest you keep your eyes peeled. Republican operatives are going into democratic leaning websites, pretending to be Arabs (with stupid made up Arab names) and threatening Americans and the United States. They fear the Democratic turnout and having failed to shut it down by other means, they are trying to court Democrats mostly through fear.

know is that their is a concerted effort by the Bush campaign to court Democrats (the Democratic turnout is going to be huge and they haven't been able to stop it, now that they realize that a substantial amount of registrations are REAL). The only issue of course that they can run on is security. So Bush backers have disguised themselves as Muslims (with pathetic, none Muslim sounding names) and gone to Democratic leaning sites acting as if they are threatening Americans (it's so Amatuerish it's laughable).

Bush also thinks he can get out that supposed 12% of Democrats that back him, unfortunately he's basically screwed. Most of these "Democrats" in the polls were really freeper pretendocrats.

And I wouldn't put it past them.

Suggestion: Find links and quotes for proof and build a case for the press.

any ideas as to what he is talking about, he didn't say who authenticated it. is there any story anywhere talking about authentication? i am just curious how far out of his ass he is pulling this.
