GOP, Milwaukee Agree on Voter List
The Wisconsin Republican Party and the city of Milwaukee agreed to distribute to polling places a list of 5,512 prospective voters whose addresses are questionable.

The GOP had sought to question the validity of thousands of other voters.

Under Sunday's agreement, people on the list who seek to vote will be asked to fill out a change of address card or registration form, and to show proof of residency.

Anyone who does not have proof of residency at an address on the list will have to take an oath, and that person's ballot will be marked as being challenged. Those ballots will be counted, but another decision on whether they count could be made if there is a recount, Deputy City Attorney Linda Burke said Monday.

4. I don't know if it's in WI, but...
I thought that as long as you are in line at the time the polls close, they have to let you Vote. I know they are doing this in FL. So, long line or not, as long as your there you get to vote.

Go Wisconsin!

6. I believe that is true in Wi, but people may have obligations
that make it difficult to stand around and wait, such as people working two minumum wage jobs...people who are likely to be Kerry supporters.

3. Can you imagine........
a bunch of white republican dorks going into black polling places and trying to stop them from voting? I have a feeling that more than a few teeth would be shed by the repubs.

5. Link to story in Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel
http://www.jsonline.com/news/state/oct04/271361.asp

>snip<

Republicans on Saturday came up with a new list of more than 37,000 questionable addresses, and they demanded that Milwaukee city officials require identification from that large number of voters before they would be allowed to cast ballots.

City Attorney Grant Langley had called that request "outrageous." He said a check of the original list of 5,619 registrations had found "hundreds and hundreds and hundreds" of legitimate addresses.

In the agreement, the city will use a list of only 5,512 names, not the list of 37,000.

7. Too bad I didn't have use of the Milwaukee database
I am sure I could had provided a list of 5,512 voters with questionable addresses.

Every known republican activist, pro-lifer, donor.

Match them with the state database to see how many are register at multiple addresses.

I am sure there are a few addresses that don't match because of input error.

And those republicans couldn't possibly live at the addresses that they have listed because the houses are just so shabby.

8. I think we all see this for what it is,
but the bigger question is, what do we do? Not for this election, it's too late now. I think everyone agrees that everyone who is legally allowed to vote should be able to vote once, and ONLY once. I would think that everyone would also agree that no one who not legally allowed to vote, should not be allowed to vote at all. What do we do between now and 2006 to make the voting lists more accurate? Do we scrap the existing lists and start from scratch, requiring everyone to re-register? Do we have someone go through the existing voter lists and verify each voter? Do we leave things as they are and have the same problems in the next election? I'm not sure what the answer is. Any thoughts?
