Drummer says Aerosmith won't play for John Kerry
Edited on Mon Nov-01-04 09:29 PM by stupidgit
Presidential candidate Senator John Kerry wins the election on Tuesday, he probably shouldn't invite AEROSMITH to play for him. Kerry wanted AEROSMITH to play the Democratic convention in Boston in late July, but the band was on tour in Japan, so frontman Steven Tyler said they'd play the inaugural if Kerry won. However, drummer Joey Kramer told Launch that there won't be any such appearances. "The band will not be performing for John Kerry. Unfortunately, he (Steven) volunteers his own services, and he volunteered the services of the band, but unfortunately at the time, I think he forgot to discuss it with the rest of us. And everybody has their views and feelings politically — obviously, we don't all agree — and so, you know, we couldn't come to a, a decision, and so it was decided not to get done."

Was Aerosmith his first choice?

If it was any other election year, I'd have to reconsider my choice of candidate... 20 years ago maybe, but has he listened to them since??

Reminds me of when Garth Brooks almost didn't sing the national anthem
at the Super Bowl:

GARTH: "Say, it's almost game time. Don't you think you should play my new video now?"

NBC: "We aren't going to play your video. Who told you that?"

GARTH: "That was the deal--you play the video and I sing the anthem! Well, you can forget it now!"

NBC: "We'll have to get someone else then. Say, isn't that Jon Bon Jovi in the stands? Send somebody down to ask if he'll fill in...He said yes? Great! Happy trails to you, Garth!"

GARTH: "OH, SAY CAN YOU SEEEEEE...."

Old high school pal of mine's band. Fairly legendary in their own way. Though Clint also has a media gig, so maybe it's verboten. But they've reunited and will be opening for a Pixies' reunion show in a couple of weeks. I expect they'd be glad to play.

They are washed out, they keep making the same song over and over again (they just change the title), and have exhausted their creative resources.

The traditionally apolitical (at least publically) band has become quite outspoken this year (Bobby and Mickey specifically, from personal experience). JFK's a fan. Aerosmith pales in comparison. I think it's a good thing their subpar drummer is a Bushbot. Kerry deserves better.

48. The Politics of Banality - Alas, the most important of all...
No wonder the Repugs have had such a nice run of it!

I surfed there at freerepuglick dot com over a coupla days' time, being new enough here to be curious at all the RANTS about 'freepers.'

Well, suffice to say, I found most everything I hit in just a light surf pretty banal.

And yet the more I read here, particularly in the forums, the more I see the cultural divide in terms of intellect.

Sure, there are smart Repugs. But not too many unless they comprise that other great constituency: the deceived!

While it may be impolitic to say this stuff so loudly, that too is nothing but a reflection of the hegemony of fucking dumbasses led by fucking liars.

A recent find that is quickly becoming my domestic Fave Repug Big Lie:

Irving 'Grandaddy of It All' Kristol:

Irving Kristol, in his role as co-editor of The Public Interest, was arguably the single most important proponent of supply-side economics. But years later, he suggested that he himself wasn't all that persuaded by the doctrine: ''I was not certain of its economic merits but quickly saw its political possibilities.'' Writing in 1995, he explained that his real aim was to shrink the government and that tax cuts were a means to that end: ''The task, as I saw it, was to create a new majority, which evidently would mean a conservative majority, which came to mean, in turn, a Republican majority -- so political effectiveness was the priority, not the accounting deficiencies of government.''

In effect, what Kristol said in 1995 was that he and his associates set out to deceive the American public. They sold tax cuts on the pretense that they would be painless, when they themselves believed that it would be necessary to slash public spending in order to make room for those cuts.
But one supposes that the response would be that the end justified the means -- that the tax cuts did benefit all Americans because they led to faster economic growth. Did they?

His Biological Dad drummed for Tommy Rowe, I had my own band (drummer) for three years and still drum and so does Tipper and
my vet hubby plays everything pro before disability for MARTY ROBBINS.
My son kicks double bass like no one I have ever seen ! He's fill in ! That drummer would be so fired if he heard my 35 yer old. HE keeps better time with his feet than most people can with their hands.

I didn't even watch that Super Bowl crap - couldn't.

But still, when I'm shooting pool and having a few, "Draw the Line" kicks.

I mean, the wealth of good music they have made far outweighs the pop bs they put out. And some of their "newer" music is pretty good too.

Sheesh, Metallica covered Bob Seger a few years back Talk about a travesty. Bleagh.

"There's something right with the world today, and everybody knows it's wrong"

I can't tolerate most of what is called "classic rock" these days, but the show they did in my neck of the woods back in July was nothing short of outstanding and I've seen a lot of bands in my time.

I wouldn't expect much more from a drummer. ;-)

When the Station nightclub burned down killing over 100 people Areosmith was asked if they could do a benifit for the fire victims and their families. Their answer was a resounding NO.

All politics aside though, I never liked their music.

Kerry is intelligent. Get a band that is more reflective of your meaningful understanding of the world around you.

Aerosmith have treated GIRLS like sex object packages of meat...I abhore that and many of our Democrats are WOMEN who get disgusted at the exploitation of fellow women.

You won't catch Bruce or REM doing any of that shit. Plus, their lyrics are infinitely better and so is their music. I think Joe Perry is a good guitar player, but that band bores me to tears.
