Ohio tally may take weeks

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Provisional ballots could decide race

By Carl Weiser
Enquirer Washingtion Bureau

WASHINGTON - If Tuesday's presidential election is close in Ohio, it could be mid-November or later before it's known for sure which candidate won the state - and maybe the presidency.

Under law, boards of elections cannot even begin counting "provisional" ballots until Nov. 13. Because that's a Saturday, many boards might wait until Nov. 15 to begin.

We might know who the President is until December!!! If this get tight!!!

1. Eleven days before provisional ballots are counted!
Hopefully the race will be long decided before that happens.

Let's wrap this up tomorrow, and no early morning surprises on Wednesday.

8. Is Ohio 2004's Florida?
With the court battles raging BEFORE election day, the problem with counting provisional, absentee, military and just plain old regular ballots, could Ohio evolve into this year's Floriduh? Seriously, something has got to be done with the way that elections are handled, in this day and age, when we can instantly communicate across this planet, and hell, to other planets! I mean, the astonauts can vote, if the Mars landers had fingers (I'm thinking they're smarter than a good chunk of the population here to begin with) they could vote instantly (or in about what.. 30 seconds? How far is Mars anywyay? ok.. 2,000,000,000 KM from earth, so.. oh, who knows. It's 2am.) and we are having problems like this counting votes?
How about if absentee ballots, provisional ballots etc were on Scan tron type cards? Or something. I just can't believe we are facing this sort of crap. I'm taking up drinking AND smoking. Heavily.

13. That's why it HAS to be a LANDSLIDE [more]
Win kerry wins tonight his margin has to be big enough in ohio to not need provisional ballots.

But...is it possible for him to get enough ohio votes to put him over the number of provisional ballots?

lets hope so.
