CAMP PENDLETON – Military prosecutors prepared to open their case against a Marine major who is the last of nine Marines accused in the first homicide in U.S. prisons in Iraq.

Jury selection was set to begin Tuesday morning at Camp Pendleton, north of San Diego, for Maj. Clarke Paulus, who faces up to 4½ years in prison if he's convicted of charges of aggravated assault, dereliction of duty and maltreatment.

Paulus was in charge of a makeshift jail at Camp Whitehorse in southern Iraq in June 2003 when 52-year-old Nagem Sadoon Hatab was brought in as a suspect in the attack on the Army convoy that killed 11 soldiers and led to the capture of Pfc. Jessica Lynch and others.

Paulus, 35, is accused of ordering a subordinate to drag Hatab by the neck after the Iraqi suffered a bout of diarrhea and collapsed. Hatab died a short while later in the dusty yard of Camp Whitehorse

On Edit---- another Coward and Bully who joined the service to kill Rag Heads.. this should go over well with the idea of Duty, Honor and Country
