xinhuanet: 35 US soldiers captured in Fallujah: mosques
FALLUJAH, Iraq, Nov. 8 (Xinhuanet) -- Mosques in Iraq's
restive city of Fallujah announced on Monday that the
fighters inside the city have captured 35 US
soldiers.

Loud speakers of the mosques blared out the news as
US forces were trying to penetrate the rebel-held city, but
the news could not be independently
confirmed.

2. Hasen't been verified, but it would be the first.
but not enough to stop the bloodshed, mabey my fellow Americans would pay attention if a 1,000 were captured and beheaded. I don't think Bush would care.

3. It means that instead of or in addition to the call to prayers the
Muezzins used their speaker system, electronic or not, to make this announcement. I don't think it's common to make announcements. Not sure.

Who's going to sing Proud To Be An American?

I think it is easier or more healthy to be angry then it is to be depressed. I don't know anymore.

4. This has been a day filled with prayers by me for all who are in....
...battle and in harms way in Iraq, both for our troops, Iraqi citizens, coalition members, contractors, Iraqi resistance forces, terrorists and others. Yes, I even hit my knees the miserable lying souls of George W Bush, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, that blood thirsty butcher, John Negroponte and anyone else responsible for the misinformation and lies that brought this and war surrounding this totally wasteful conflict. I'm very emotional right now, and I can't think of any other way to find calmness, except to call upon a loving God and to pray for peace and to find forgiveness.

7. Clare Barton had similar feelings i'm sure
In 1873 she inaugurated a movement to secure recognition
of the Red Cross society by the United States government,
which finally succeeded during the administration of
President Chester A. Arthur. Barton naturally became
President of the American branch of the society, which
was founded in 1882. She served as president of the
American Red Cross until her resignation in 1904.

10. Right now in history, Xinhuanet is China's major news
and the 4th Estate is really not feeling
quite right these days.

I say we'll find out soon, because I've also seen two different
sources.

But really, I've been watching Xinhuanet for awhile
and creds are hard to get, easy to lose.

12. Be wary of anything radical Islamists say
Those Islamist thugs lie about anything and everything,
just like their supreme leader Osama Bin Laden.

17. I think the air is thick with propaganda from every angle
It's a good practice to consider, but withhold judgement on all such reports from the front, until many sources with opposed points of view confirm the news.

And even then, you can't be totally sure.

18. Yes, you can't be sure
Sometimes it's propaganda, and sometimes it is just situations developing so quickly stories are relayed incorrectly, not confirmed properly, and
honest mistakes are made that make a drastic difference in an important event (battle).

Not familiar with MENAFN (Middle East North Africa Financial Network).

-snip-
Both sides reported they had taken prisoners during the offensive, with Allawi saying four foreign fighters had been captured.

Speaking from a mosque in central Fallujah, a spokesman for the insurgents, said they had captured 36 U.S. soldiers and 103 Iraqi -National Guards prisoner since fighting began overnight.
-snip-

Still no 'independent'confirmation'.

Here's another. Still just reports of the mosque loudspeakers.
