Priest arraigned on child pornography charges

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. - A Catholic priest accused of storing thousands of pornographic images of boys on his computer was released Monday on $5,000 cash bail after pleading innocent.

The Rev. Stephen A. Fernandes, pastor of Our Lady of Fatima church in New Bedford, was arraigned in New Bedford District Court on a charge of possession of child pornography.

Fernandes was suspended from his post last week after prosecutors notified the Diocese of Fall River that they were investigating the allegations. Investigators seized his personal computer and discovered some 5,000 explicit pictures of children.

And people wonder why I am a lapsed Catholic and why I hate all organized religion. Not ALL religion, but all organized religion.

Catholic Priests terrorized me when I was young, and in Catholic school in New York City. Thank God they turned their interests from terrorizing little boys, to fucking them long after I got out of school.

I hate this shit.
Too bad most of the country won't think about this twice.
