Worried about FCC sanctions; film must run uncut
NEW YORK (AP) -- More than 20 ABC affiliates around the country, including two in Ohio, have announced that they won't take part in the network's Veterans Day airing of "Saving Private Ryan," saying the acclaimed film's violence and language could draw sanctions from the Federal Communications Commission.

Janice Wise, spokeswoman for the FCC's enforcement bureau, told The Hollywood Reporter the agency had received calls from broadcasters asking if the film would run afoul of the rules. Wise said the commission was barred from making a prebroadcast decision "because that would be censorship."

"If we get a complaint, we'll act on it," she said.

2. Actually, they're afraid of Michael Powell
How's that for "hating us for our freedoms"?

4. FCC Head Michael Powell
I for one would love to see Michael Powell leave the FCC. I used to be a fan of the Powells (Colin and Michael) but they have compromised their progressive and innovative beliefs in favor of regressive party-line rhetoric and action. Mike Powell is quelling the 1st AMD.

5. So in other words, if you show it and we are in a good mood...
We won't fine you, but if we aren't, watch out! Until then we refuse to put out a list of do's and don't's. Because then we would have to explain ourselves.

Although we still have freedom of speech, we have to watch what we say, because they may not like it.

Nothing like the good old double speak.
