7. He might have
You're jumping to conclusions. How do you know he didn't? Admittedly he doesn't strike me as the vibrator in the butt kind a guy but you never know.

5. I saw her when I went to a taping of his show last Spring!

I couldn't understand how she got a front row aisle seat.

Was ushered in and talked on her cell phone when we had to turn ours off.

This picture in the thread is kind to her.

She was not cute at all in person, IMO.

This case does not surprise me at all.

Hope the sister gets what she is asking for, big $$'s.

Maher has a strang personality.

Pills/pipe ?

11. hypocrisy?
Maher never preached to people about morality. I think it's pretty common knowledge that he's a lady's man (do people still use that term?) I don't think it's anything he would deny.

21. Exactly. I don't view Maher as anything close to a moral champion.
However, if the promises of marriage and children are true... then THAT would be *hugely* hypocritical of him.

27. Doesn't she watch his show???
He's always talking about how he hates marriage and never wants to get marries or have children!!

I don't think this lawsuit is going anywhere.

Full disclosure -- I am a Bill Maher fan. His HBO show is (IMHO) one of the best things on TV.

He is a bit mysogisnistic, but he always respects a person's opinion on the merits, regardless of gender. He's more of a "pig" then a mysoginist, IMO.

12. Huh? This makes him many things, but not a hypocrite....
He's always had a bad boy, mysoginist streak and I don't think he's ever really made any bones about it. It would make him an asshole, it would make him mysoginistic, insecure, a cad....any number of things. Hypocrite wouldn't really be one of them.

14. Theoretically it would.
Maher doesn't preach Moral values, but he has said multiple times that he is against racism (racist comments) and violence (hammer on head, arm jerk.) He doesn't like how Bush has deceived America (fake promises of house and other amenities.) Yes, if these charges are true, then he is a hypocrite.

None of the things you say makes him a hypocrite. If you were in my 2nd-semester English class I'd reassign the section in the handbook on logical fallacies. Look at what you're saying and check the response above about him practicing what he preaches. You get a D-.

36. yes, the only hypocrisy may be that he said, or I thought
he said, that he didn't beleive in marriage or monogamy.

Did I hear him right? these were in the politically incorrect days, so it's been awhile.

10. I like Maher overall as a comedian/commentator...
..even though I don't always agree with him. But having seen him do live (non-political) stand up, I wish I could say this surprises me. When he wasn't addressing politics his material was over the top mysoginistic. And I'm not an overly sensitive PC type guy who can't laugh at blue or bad taste humor.

Not saying this means any of this is definitely true, just that if it were it would not surprise me.

Ms. Johnson/Johnsen apparently makes a living doing soft (and not-so-soft) porn - calendars, Playboy centerfold, etc. Would posts making reference to her appearance be "uninvited"? (Hmmm.) Gotta wonder. :eyes:

"He said he'd marry me and he didn't, so I'll sue him for abuse."
Hunh? Actually wouldn't surprise me if he has issues with women-he was raised Irish Catholic, and they tend to be a tad conflicted that way (that old virgin/whore thing).

24. He had it coming
Long ago, he ripped off the terminally ill Bill Hicks in a show I saw, and I've never forgiven him for that.

Denis Leary did the same thing.

They should both rot.

38. Sure
If you're familiar with the work of Bill Hicks, then you know he was THE cutting edge comedian back in the days when people like Maher and Leary were just starting out. Hicks was a revolution, an act of God, and, I think - and I'm an atheist - a genuinely holy man. Never has anyone spoken so directly and honestly about the human condition.

There's a wonderful biography of him - "American Scream" is the title, I believe - and it goes into great detail about his life and his work.

But, when Hicks got sick (he died at age 33 ten years ago of pancreatic cancer, I think), he kept on working as long as he could, but his appearances, naturally, became fewer and fewer as his strength faded. Then, Maher and Leary started using Hicks' material - Maher, in particular, didn't even both to change the phrasing when I saw him.

I have nothing but contempt for both of them. If Hicks had lived, I can't even imagine what he would be doing today.

Check out www.billhicks.com. A good site.

And sorely missed. His riffs on the first Bush administration could easy apply to the current Boy King's administration. He's timeless.

28. Ridiculous
Maher hates marriage and children so why would he promise this to his girlfriend and why would she believe it??? I guess she never watched his show because if she did she would know his aversion to marriage and children. Looks like nothing but a scam.

Beats that married freak O'Reilly. You can sue after 17 months if someone "promises" to marry you, then doesn't?? Since when? I think she is just going after the bucks, we'll see.
