Mich. Woman Sentenced in Sept. 11 Scam

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- A woman who fraudulently collected nearly $100,000 from organizations helping families victimized by the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks has been sentenced to 10 months in jail.

Donna Miller, 49, had acknowledged during a September hearing that she falsely claimed her husband was missing or dead in the 2001 World Trade Center attack. He was not aware of the scam, authorities said.

"I'm very sorry this occurred," she said Wednesday at her sentencing. "I want to apologize to everybody."

My first reaction is to totally agree with you. My attitude is so "FUCK THE MAN" right about now... and that isn't how I was raised. :(

I believe the poster was speaking as if she were the convicted woman, i.e. the convicted woman is only sorry that she got caught.

Might be wrong of course.

I'd hardly call this "fucking the man" - this is taking cynical advantage of tragedy and charity.
