Blair Appears to Cringe as Bush Discusses Whether He Is the Bush's 'poodle
http://ap.tbo.com/ap/breaking/MGBWQ7YSG1E.html

WASHINGTON (AP) - It was the last question Prime Minister Tony Blair wanted asked, and he seemed to cringe as President Bush answered it.

"The prime minister is sometimes, perhaps unfairly, characterized in Britain as your poodle," began the questioner at a joint appearance by the two leaders Friday at the White House. "I was wondering if that's the way you may see your relationship? And perhaps, more seriously, do you feel for the -"

Blair broke in: "Don't answer 'yes' to that question," he mockingly admonished Bush, prompting laughter.

Joking aside, Bush offered a serious answer.

6. I don't know where these guys get off making jokes about anything
I can't describe how angry I am that these two incompetents are making jokes about anything, while the soldiers of their countries are dying because of their mendacity.

And it doesn't matter what kind of answer bush gives, he gets his boots licked by the incompetent press. The press is the real joke.

7. master in the art of saying NOTHING
"Plenty capable of making his own mind. He's a strong, capable man," the president said. "When times get tough he doesn't wilt. You know, when the criticism starts to come his way - I suspect that might be happening on occasion - he stands for what he believes in."

'He stands for what he believes in'...WTF? Who doesn't?

- other than ending that statement w/ a preposition...have we ever had a president that so thoroughly butchered, maimed, dismembered the English language?...'plenty capable'? 'capable man' is capable the word of the week?

Reviving old tradishunal and moral values like runnin' roughshod over others, an' showin' disdain for different cultures, especially them faggot french culture! Yea! If it ain't a value of us good ol' boys from da heartland o' Americah, well then we jus' don't give a sh*t! We want silent, resolute leaduhs! When it takes our prehsident a long while to answer something, it ain't cause he's dumb, it's cause he's speeking to gawd and asking gawd for answers! Yea! That's it!"

42. He also enjoys describing people,
particuarly cabinet members and other officials in trouble, as doing a "fabulous job." Donald Rumsfeld did a "fabulous job." So did Tenet. And so did Condoleezza Rice.

25. David Charter of The Times (UK)
"David Chance from the Times in London. Mr. President, first, the prime minister is sometimes, perhaps unfairly, characterized in Britain as your poodle" - http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/world/la-bushblairtext_wr,0,3071632.story?coll=la-home-headlines

However, today's Times report on the conference is written by David Charter, who is their Chief Political Correspondent, so I thin kthe transcript misheard his name.

So he's actually a Murdoch employee.

44. Reported on BBC World News last night
But I think you have to be a subscriber to link into their videos.

Yes, Blair was highly embarrassed and almost squirming. He put on that Halloween pumpkin grin of his when he's been put on the spot. Bush had a cagey grin and gave some wooden response.

Hope a link turns up somewhere.

I think that Tony's over six feet and * is barely able to draw himself up to 5'10", but today that difference seemed to narrow.

If * were such a man, he would be comfortable with his own body. Unfortunately, he is just a little man, in all meanings of that word.

36. Bush's poodle?
Yes, it was a British jounalist who asked the question. American reporters wouldn't have the gonads to ask that kind of question. MY reaction to that question was: "Oooo, that hurt." But how appropriate. :P Gee, I always had respect for Tony Blair. He at least had the guts to admit that faulty intelligence was used in the invasion.

"Plenty capable of making his own mind. He's a strong, capable man," the president said. "When times get tough he doesn't wilt. You know, when the criticism starts to come his way - I suspect that might be happening on occasion - he stands for what he believes in."

...sound like one of those "after game speeches" athletes give.

i.e.:

"We knew if we played good and worked good together...we could pull this one out. We came together as a team. This game coulda been won OR lost. But when we focus...we win. And thats what happened tonight. Hi Mom!"
