SoCal man's Web site allows thousand to apologize for Bush's election

NEW YORK - It started the day after the presidential election with one student posting a picture of himself on the Internet holding up a sign reading: "Sorry world (we tried) - half of America."

Within a few days, says University of Southern California student James Zetlen, his Web site www.sorryeverybody.com had received 27 million hits.

The site features 2,200 pictures of contrite Americans holding up placards expressing their sorrow at the re-election of President Bush. There are 1,000 more pictures waiting to be posted.

"It was mind-boggling the amount of emotion the Web site has triggered," says the 20-year-old neuroscience student.

This was taken in St. Charles County, MO - one of the more affluent and very much GOP - areas in St. Louis, during an anti-war protest at a (I think) Boeing plant that produces missles.

It was well-covered by the St. Louis Independent Media Center. One of the folks there that day snapped this picture of Mr. Moran (hey, he looks like he could have come from my own dying hometown of Granite City, IL) and posted it on the STLIMC site as part of their coverage.

Somehow or another, this picture got picked up and I'm sure it's been around the world a time or two since then. Not sure if Brain Moran knows about his "fame," but then again, he may be too dumb to figure it out.

Who says the Indy Media movement's not good for something? :toast:

Even though it's clearly not our fault - we are capable of apology.

In contrast, Bush (and probably most of his supporters) are not even capable of acknowledging their mistakes, let alone apoligizing for them.

This becomes akin to "an inside joke". People who see the world in relative "shades of grey" "get it"; those who see things in absolute "black and white" don't.

I'm genuinely sorry.

What a great site. I've been on it for days. I've almost made it to page 150. Each one warms my heart a little. It's like all we see on the tv, here, is the right wing agenda. Nice to know there are actual human beings (aside from DU) in this country.

The trauma from the election is profound.

While the images of our huddled masses yearning to breathe free are poignant and empathetic in our heart-broken sincerity,(not to mention, exceedingly creative and humorous) the images of those other people on the AintSorry,DontKnowShit/DontGiveAShit site are uniformly smug,fat and heavily armed. I shit thee not, these are some of the fattest fucks I have ever seen, (to think what a decent health care system could do to promote longevity for these pitiable benighted...perhaps the Lord DOES work in mysterious ways?!)
