Texas secretary of state submits resignation
Geoff Connor wants to join private sector after year's end

A day after his likely successor was identified publicly, Texas Secretary of State Geoff Connor on Friday submitted his resignation, effective at the end of the year.

Connor, 41, said he plans to return to the private sector but did not provide details.

Gov. Rick Perry already has been talking to Weatherford car dealer Roger Williams about taking Connor's place. Williams is a fund-raiser for President Bush and a Bush family friend.

Perry's appointment would give Williams a high-profile job from which he could launch his own political career, a goal in which he is reportedly interested. The Bush-Cheney Super Ranger was a six-figure fund-raiser who traveled extensively for the president's campaign.

4. Yep, that's him!

When word started circulating about that, they did a big "family unity" photo-op with "Good Hair", his wife and kids telling everyone what a wonderful family they are and how mean and hurtful those ugly "rumors" were. The wife and kids then went on vacation to Europe for about a month. Hmmmm...wonder what Geoff and the Gov. did while they were gone?
