Bush Warns of Growing Violence in IraqWASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Bush (news - web sites) warned on Saturday that guerrilla violence in Iraq (news - web sites) could worsen, even as U.S. forces battled to stamp out resistance in the insurgent stronghold of Falluja.
In his weekly radio address, Bush said U.S. troops and Iraqi forces were "taking back the city" of Falluja from guerrillas and restoring order as part an operation aimed at bringing stability to the area ahead of January elections.

But he said that as January elections drew near, "the desperation of the killers will grow, and the violence could escalate. The success of democracy in Iraq would be a crushing blow to the forces of terror, and the terrorists know it."
