Target won't allow Salvation Army to solicit at its stores
http://www.ajc.com/metro/content/metro/1104/17target.html

Target officials have told the Army they would strictly enforce a company policy against solicitation outside its stores.

In the past, Target had granted the Army an exemption. This year, because of the number of other nonprofit groups across the U.S. asking for spots outside the stores, the company decided to do what a spokesperson said is "fair and consistent."

Local Army officials said while they understand Target's decision, they will have to scramble to reach this year's goal of $1 million in holiday kettle contributions in metro Atlanta.

8. Nope. Someone posted this story a few days ago and 95% of DU'ers said...
..."good" because they don't like the SA's anti-gay, pro-Republican policies.

9. Salvation Army is anti-civil rights
<http://www.workingforchange.com/article.cfm?ItemID=12313>

There are plenty of charities that do good without being big creeps.

Give to the other charities.

Good for Target. It's a civil way to give Salvation Army the heave-ho they so richly deserve.

10. good decision
Wasn't it the Salvation Army that wrote an anti-gay discrimination clause into its bylaws? Which was supported and enabled by Bush's faith based community?

14. They are a hateful homophobic organization.
THere has been a longstanding boycott of the Salvation Army by PFLAG due to their discrimination against gays.
Congratulations and Thank You Target!
