The State of George Bush
From the article:

Bush's approval ratings have been low, but in the aftermath of the Iraqi elections, he approached this speech as a conquering hero -- a vindicated hero. There was, of course, no mention of Iraq's (nonexistent) weapons of mass destruction. No recognition that America's standing in the world has fallen to an all-time low. No acknowledgment that the administration had failed to plan adequately for the post-invasion period. Bush has not a bashful bone. For him, the Iraqi election was a signal (from God?): full steam ahead.

He praised his tax cuts and his record on job creation. (The United States has added 2.3 million new jobs in the past year, he said, without disclosing that the economy needs to create about 2 million jobs a year to keep up with population growth.) He claimed his forthcoming budget would lead to cutting the deficit in half by 2009 -- even though budget analysts have said he is relying upon phony numbers and false assumptions.

1. Phony numbers and false assumptions
presented with a smile is all he needs to keep the lemmings in line. Facts are totally irrelevent to the cultists who hate Clinton because he was successful and believe bush only because he says he is a conservative. And it doesn't really matter that Iraq did not have WMD; the real reason we went to War was to liberate the Iraqi's, just ask any christian conservative, they'll tell you.

3. Two things are being used as excuses. When the repubs are
told we we to war on a lie they scream "faulty intelligence" or "we have a democracy and it was worth it".

On The Daily Show this week, on repub was saying how the neocons have this dream and it's working. Jon kept mentioning all the WMD, but he was ignored because of the great success of the elections.

Then there are all those people that said the SOTU speech was a great speech - a triple header I heard on person say.

9-11 was faulty intelligence too. Nice job blaming the CIA.

What a bunch of stupid people in this country.
