Rebuttal: A hateful, juvenile, humorless screed
Here it is, everyone--your responses to the Post-gazette (everyone's except mine!)

Rebuttal: A hateful, juvenile, humorless screed

Saturday, March 19, 2005
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

In response to "Wash Your Bumper Off: Still Have a 'Kerry/Edwards' Sticker on Your Car? Get Over It!" by Christopher Flickinger (March 12):

I am extremely disappointed in your editorial page staff for choosing to publish this juvenile tripe. Publishing such divisive name-calling serves no purpose but to inflame political divisions, which have already reached an unhealthy tenor.

2. Those Were Great Rebuttals...
I couldn't wait until I got the paper this AM. While I knew my longer piece wouldn't make the rebuttals, Mr. John Allison at the Post-Gazette did yomen work in presenting 11 scathing reviews of the adolescent tripe published by Flickinger.

Kudos to all who rose up to remind the PG of standards in journalism we expect from a great newspaper. In this case, the daggers your pen provided were truly more mighty than the sword.

OP... Who applauds all of you.

4. There is hope
I just googled Christopher Flickinger.

The idea of him calling someone a "loser" makes me think of "pot" and "kettle." He's not having what you might call a successful career, is he?

5. He's Been A "Loser" For A Long Time....
Just for openers, Flickinger is a liar and a cheat. He's been that way since he was a kid. What he was able to get away with in High School was only due to his daddy being on the School Board and everyone looking the other way. And believe me, he got away with plenty. I've got specifics after specifics to back up my claims.

If you read his article you can tell he's never had an original thought. I'm sure in his self-aggrandizing mentality, he believes that as long as the scathing rebuttals spelled his name correctly, it means they like him!

His dad ran for a County office once, and was trounced by his democratic opponent. His dad is now a poll worker on election day! Whoa, big time republican.

The kid has no skills, skewed thinking, and a warped sense of right and wrong.

Someday, if you remind me, I'll tell you how I really feel.

LOL.

A few years back, for reasons I won't immediately mention, I had to compile a list of Flickinger's offenses. I know things about that family they have no idea that I know!

9. Wipe your bumper off Flickinger - Great Letters in response
10 Letters

<snip>

Why do Republicans continue to preach unity and bipartisan politics when arrogant people like Mr. Flickinger continue to boast and to divide the American people? In my travels, I've seen three times as many "George W." bumper stickers than Kerry/Edwards. I removed my bumper sticker after the election and decided to work collectively with our leaders to strengthen our country.

But you labeled Kerry/Edwards supporters as "losers" because they can't get over their defeat in the election. These so-called losers didn't fall for the fabricated stories of the Bush administration. They didn't support a president who will go down in history as the president who bankrupted this country with tax breaks for the rich, escalating oil prices and exorbitant health-care prices -- a president who started a war under false pretenses, with no means to pay for it, just like his Social Security plans.

So thanks, Mr. Flickinger, for motivating me to wash my American-made car and reinstall my Kerry/Edwards bumper sticker. If you see me in traffic, be assured that I won't be giving you a break; I don't want to follow another loser.

Sad and frightening.

11. Thanks for the link.
Living in a red state with an extreme number of right-wingers in my hometown (over 70%) is tough. It's good to see that there are some sane people left in the US, even if they are 1,500 miles from me.

12. If Flickinger Even Considers Running For Office,
...and there is no doubt he'll try, he'd better move from Canonsburg. Kerry was in Canonsburg for the 4th of July. Thousands gathered to see and hear him speak. It's one of the most democratic towns in Pennsylvania.

Flickinger needs to change his name and his address. In Canonsburg, he's dog meat.

14. Didn't wash mine off (It has been polished over at
the detailers to make it last longer)--

But I added:

1. A yellow ribbon - "Support Our Troops - BRING THEM HOME"

2. A "Darwin" fish - with the little reptilian legs.

My car is a fuel efficient Prius.

17. typical hypocrisy
I wonder if he'll pen a column complaining about Fred Honsberger's picture of Kerry/Edwards with the universal NO symbol through it. Honsberger still has it prominently displayed behind him during his tirades on WPXI.
