Another view on the International Criminal Court
From the Barbados Nation News, July 14

We all know of the nefarious records of the International Monetary Fund, World Bank, Inter-American Development Bank, World Trade Organisation and the Organisation of Economic Co-operation and Development.

Thus the last thing that the vulnerable nations and peoples of the Third World need, is another “supra-national institution” that has been designed to exercise control over us and impinge on our sovereign rights.

Yet, that is precisely what we are getting with the recently established International Criminal Court (ICC)!

The vast majority of the people of Barbados only became aware of the ICC, when the news broke that the George Bush Administration had cut military aid to Barbados because our government refused to sign an agreement exempting citizens of the United States from prosecution by the ICC.

Think-Or-Perish Facing Reality

The author of the piece, David Comissong, is a leftist and his articles on issues like imperialism, racism etc. frequently ruffle the feathers of the Barbados business establishment (much of it white owned and controlled in a country with a majority black population).
