Emily's List Debunks Choice Myth (Moral Values Voters)
Interesting article from Emily's List. I think some of it goes along with the whole issue of "framing" raised by George Lakoff.

SNIP:
The impact of “moral values” on voting behavior was a centerpiece of the analysis that followed the 2004 presidential election, with conservative groups and commentators moving quickly to tie the “values deficit” to Democrats’ positions on issue like choice and gay marriage.

SNIP:
Furthermore, while the “moral values” analysis provided a convenient rationale for the right, further analysis shows that “moral values” are not synonymous with Bush values, nor were those voters who cited moral values as a determinant of their vote referring to social issues like abortion.

From Mellman Group Summary:
When asked, voters described "moral values" as a candidate's character and decision making process - not his or her views on abortion or gay marriage.

2. When asked, voters described "moral values" as a candidate's character and
decision making process...'

What I don't understand about that is if voters can get past the pro-choice/anti stance, and gay marriage stance, why the hell can't they see chimpy's 'character' is as shallow as a piece of paper, and that his 'decision making process' is to surround himself with sycophants who tell him what he wants to hear.

3. Kerry = Flip Flopper
At least, that is how Dubya and the media portrayed him.
Dubya was portrayed as decisive, strong.

And I think to an extent, it is true, Dubya is decisive, but what Kerry said about being certain and wrong, never quite caught on with people.
