Democrats must change everything (Carville & Begala in USAT)
By James Carville and Paul Begala

<snip> But today, too many leading Democratic strategists deny that the party we love has a problem. When you lose to an unpopular president with a soft economy and a disastrous occupation in Iraq — a man who lost all three debates and who, when he's trying to complete a sentence, is like a drunk man trying to cross an icy street — you most definitely have a problem. <snip>

Sure, we'd like it if Democrats were seen as the party of faith, family and the flag. And we'd like it if Democrats would fight corporate interests more and take their special interest money less. But the biggest problem the Democrats face is not that they're seen as standing for too many liberal issues or standing for too many conservative positions. It's that Democrats aren't seen as standing for anything.

The fundamental question for the party out of power is always: What would you change?

Democrats' answer should be, "Everything." On every front, on every issue, Democrats should be the party of reform, change and a new direction. <examples follow>

2. Geez. These freaks are the last to talk.
They're as guilty as anybody for the problems the dems are facing. The party should start changing by giving them the boot.

5. I'm with you...
After listening to the party leaders in Congress, I must say that I'm proud of them for standing for almost everything on the article's laundry list.

I'm sick of the little know-it-all snots coming out every other day, and in public, criticizing the Dems. If they have a problem... they should voice their concerns in a memo. At least it would have some value as scrap paper.

3. Amen !
I'm sure the writers will be "hotly" debated here, based on some of their own past participation, but they have spelled out the Democratic roadmap back to power. :toast:

6. Congratulations to all DUers. You've been saying exactly that for years.
Now, get those resumés in to the DNC and the cable shows. Any one of you has more on the ball as a political analyst than these two leftovers.

:D

7. We don't need to change one fucking thing.
We need to stop the corrupt election system, and get the message out there that Democrats care about the people, the economy, the environment, the world, peace, privacy, and everything good, while Repukes care about money and oil. Oh, and making sure that you don't have any privacy at all about anything.

11. Bingo!
That was my response, too.
Change from black box voting, and you've got a whole different dynamic. Then the USA Today pieces would be examining how the Republicans need to change everything.

8. good, sounds like even the elite are waking the fuck up, FINALLY
wooHoo :bounce:

but they still refuse to acknowledge THE most important lynch-pin problem, BBV.

if THAT is corrupt, as we have very good reasons to believe that it very well is, there is 0 way to reform the other important issues raised until that issue is takin care of.

peace
