Seattle P-I: "Huddled gay masses, Canada wants you"

By D. PARVAZ
SEATTLE POST-INTELLIGENCER REPORTER

So the state Senate decided to kill a bill banning discrimination against homosexuals. Or, as I prefer to put it, the Senate last week said it's A-OK to discriminate against gay people. All you gay haters have carte blanche, y'all.

The fact that our lawmakers have chosen to judge people solely on the basis of how their genitals match up with those of their partner's is a loss for Washington, but, possibly, a boon for British Columbia.

That's right.

No gay rights here? Move to Canada. Seriously, gay folks: If you don't have a criminal record and can do an honest day's work, pack it up and move north.

As the self-appointed Canadian ambassador here, I urge you to apply for refugee status on humanitarian grounds (only because there's no "I feel really freakin' alienated and betrayed by my own country" box to tick on immigration forms).

2. My same-sex wife and I are considering seriously a move to Canada
For exactly these reasons. We can marry and have full civil rights. We can get good health coverage. Housing prices are pretty darned good.

What's not to like? :)

3. Do we have to be gay? What if we're just gay-friendly? I love BC
I was thinking of starting an underground railroad station up there.
