The United States of Facism? Slowly but Surely, That’s What ..
.. Our Country’s Becoming

Date: Thursday, May 12, 2005
By: Wayne Dawkins, BlackAmericaWeb.com

NEWS ITEM: The pastor of a Baptist church in Waynesville, N.C. told his congregation last fall that those among them who didn’t plan to vote for Republican incumbent George W. Bush should repent or resign from the church.

Nine adults late last week said they were forced out of the small church located 125 miles from Charlotte. The Rev. Chan Chandler called his edict a “misunderstanding,” according to an Associated Press dispatch. By Wednesday, Chandler resigned, reported the Asheville Citizen-Times.

Welcome to the United States of fascism? Chandler folded, but what emboldened him to tell people how to think or act?

For weeks, hasn’t it seemed that intimidation and bullying by leaders of the political party in power is poisoning the atmosphere? Republicans control both houses of Congress and the presidency, or executive branch. The Supreme Court is independent, yet it leans oh-so-slightly to the right. <snip>

1. Authoritarian and Dominion-Nation

The police do not serve me.

The police do not serve you.

They are not there to serve and protect.

They are not there to uphold law and order.

The police are not agents of the people.

They are agents of power.

2. Hey,
it happens to the best of empires. I mean, isn't that eventually how they all fizzle out. Excessive conquest, domestic unrest, intrusive power, false propoganda, etc., etc....

3. the 'best of empires'? hardly.
Right off the top of my head, The Aztecs, Brits, Romans, Japanese and Chinese have all built far greater empires in their time.

The 'Murikan empire is a misfire at best, historically speaking, and could very well be the empire that screws the planet over once and for all time.

I guess if you count incompetence, recklessness, and short-sightedness and positive qualities of empires, then maybe you have a point.
